Lawyer with Notary Qualification for Stockholm City Legal Department

The City Management Office is the municipal executive's administration. We are responsible for governance, follow-up, and development of the city's operations based on the vision and budget decided by the municipal council. We have just over 300 employees who mainly work with strategic issues that are of great importance to the city's operations.

Welcome to us

The legal department of the City of Stockholm is part of the City Management Office.

Our clients are the city's committees, administrations, companies, and foundations. The department's task is to provide qualified legal expertise and service to our clients, as well as to serve the municipal council and the municipal executive.

We have about 60 employees in the department, of which approximately 35 are lawyers. The department is divided into four units – the general legal unit, the social and school legal unit, the operational support unit, and the municipal council and municipal executive secretariat – KF/KS secretariat.

In the social and school legal unit, we work with legal issues within the areas of social services and education. The unit has twelve lawyers: city attorneys and deputy city attorneys. We are now seeking a lawyer with notary qualification for a temporary position as a deputy city attorney until March 31, 2026.

Your role

The tasks mainly involve the following:

  • advising municipal administrations
  • representing the city as counsel in courts, primarily in cases under the law with special provisions on the care of young people (LVU)
  • providing opinions on legal matters
  • conducting training.

The area of work is primarily social law such as SoL, LVU, LSS, and family law. School legislation, municipal health care, general administrative law, public access and confidentiality legislation, and municipal law are also commonly occurring legal areas.

Your competence and experience

You who are applying have:

  • a law degree (jur.kand.)
  • completed notary service.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • current experience of working in social law
  • current experience in any of the other aforementioned legal areas
  • experience of litigating in court as counsel.

As a person, you are communicative and have a good ability to create good relationships in your workplace and with your clients. The work requires you to be meticulous, have good judgment, and be quick and efficient. You should be able to conduct processes in court and express yourself clearly and concisely in speech and writing.
