Operations Technician for Wastewater Unit
In Region Gotland, you can develop and grow, both as an individual and together with others. When you work with us, you contribute to making Gotland an even better place for people in all walks of life. We make each other better.
Wastewater Unit
Region Gotland is the island's largest employer with a variety of competencies.
With us, you have the opportunity to influence and make a difference for citizens and the community. You will become an important person in a large organization with an incredible amount of knowledge. Important guiding stars for our work are participation, trust, and care.
The Water and Wastewater Department (VA) works within innovation, development, renewal, and operation of all our facilities such as water sources, waterworks, wastewater treatment plants, and infrastructure/pipes.
Your Responsibilities
As an operations technician in the wastewater unit, you will be part of a team responsible for the operation, supervision, and maintenance of VA facilities focused on wastewater across Gotland. You will work with permits and controls as well as optimization of VA plants and associated equipment and facilities such as pumping stations and LTA stations.
The work includes ongoing sampling for optimizing operations and quality assurance of processes to comply with legal requirements, operational monitoring, and follow-up of the facilities' functions, troubleshooting, simple repairs of operational equipment, and preventive maintenance, as well as some customer contact.
Great emphasis is placed on follow-up, including administrative work to monitor operations. Workplace safety is a prioritized area in the VA department. As an employee in the wastewater unit, other tasks may also be relevant, such as assisting in development projects with input or additional limiting tasks.
You report directly to the unit manager, and the workgroup consists of a team leader who leads and distributes the work, as well as technicians who together carry out the work in the facilities.
On-call duty may be included in the position.
Who Are You?
You who are applying for the position have a vocational education in operations technology at a post-secondary level or other education or experience that can be assessed as equivalent.
We consider it an advantage if you have work experience in VA operations or industry. You have knowledge in control and regulation technology, are used to working with computer support, and have good knowledge of the programs included in the Office suite.
You also find it easy to learn new systems and software. You are flexible and meticulous with good analytical skills, and well aware of goals and quality standards. You are used to working independently but also find it easy to collaborate and enjoy working with other people. As a person, you are social, outgoing, and solution-focused. We also appreciate a cheerful demeanor, initiative, and curiosity. Quality, customer focus, and humility are crucial for the role, and it is important that you can communicate both externally and internally. As the VA department faces many exciting challenges with existing and new facilities and work processes, it is also important that you are open to change.
In this recruitment, we work with ongoing selection, which means that we may call for an interview before the application period has ended. We therefore ask you to submit your application as soon as possible.
