Procurement and Material Supply Area

The Role of Procurement Officer with a Sustainability Focus

Public procurement plays an important role in the transition to sustainable development, and we are looking for someone who, together with other colleagues, wants to drive the work of sustainable procurement.

As a procurement officer with a sustainability focus, you will:

  • Lead procurement projects with a sustainability focus.
  • Work strategically and long-term with sustainability requirements as well as social and ethical requirements in procurements.
  • Follow up on sustainability requirements and social and ethical requirements to ensure and develop contractual cooperation in dialogue with suppliers with a focus on sustainability.
  • Conduct procurements and support colleagues in making procurements where the sustainability perspective is central.

You will be part of the procurement and material supply area and report to the procurement manager. You will also work closely with the environmental unit manager and the environmental unit, which is part of the environmental, preparedness, and safety area. The location is Jönköping, but work throughout the county is included, which is why a B driver's license is required.

Your Profile

You have a relevant university education and experience in procurement and/or strategic sustainability work. Experience in public procurement is an advantage to be able to be the responsible procurement officer in procurements where the sustainability perspective is central.

To be successful in this role, we also see that you have knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • Driving procurement projects with a sustainability focus.
  • Supplier dialogues within sustainable supply chains and interest in human rights.
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Your Future Workplace

Within the procurement and material supply area, we are about 20 procurement officers responsible for Region Jönköping County's procurements and contracts in 11 different categories. Within the environmental, preparedness, and safety area, we are about 35 employees who support the region's operations in creating sustainable, safe, and robust activities.

The procurement and material supply area and the environmental, preparedness, and safety area are part of the operational support and service area.
