Deacon for Södertälje Congregation

The Church of Sweden in Södertälje consists of three congregations (Södertälje, Östertälje, and Enhörna) and has over 100 employees in church activities, parish administration, and cemetery management.

Södertälje is an exciting city with great diversity, where a large part of the population consists of Christians from the Middle East with various backgrounds and church affiliations. The Church of Sweden has been a leading actor in integration and asylum law issues for several years. There is a well-established collaboration with the municipality and other actors in civil society.

The Södertälje congregation holds services in four churches (S:ta Ragnhild, Lina, Hovsjö, and Tveta), conducts education with a growing number of children and youth, and aims to develop outreach diaconal work to meet more people with Christian love and care. The purpose is for people to come to faith in Christ and live in faith, to create and deepen a Christian community, to expand God's kingdom, and to restore creation.

YOUR ASSIGNMENT

To meet people in vulnerable life situations with Jesus as a role model and through outreach work, providing support with both urgent interventions and assistance for self-help. Work with reception and counseling for individuals in the asylum process. Stay updated on integration-promoting initiatives taking place in the city and participate in various network and reference groups. Coordinate the MIG network (Migration, Integration, Community) with the civil society sector regarding issues related to refugee status and integration in Södertälje, and be an active influencer in civil society and in dialogue with the public sector. Work strategically and operationally with activities for inclusion and integration. Together with other staff in the diaconal work team, contribute to the development of the congregation's diaconal work. Lead services and devotions, be responsible for intercessory prayer in the main service, and offer personal prayer.

YOUR BACKGROUND

We are looking for you who are an ordained deacon in the Church of Sweden, who loves Jesus and sees prayer as an important part of diaconal work. You are secure in your faith and have a desire to convey it to others. You are a flexible and responsible person who can work both independently and collaborate with others to achieve the congregation's goals. You are outgoing, open, social, and have an easy time connecting with people. You have experience in migration, integration, and asylum law issues.

• The position requires a driver's license.
• Work may occur in the evenings and on weekends.
• It is an advantage if you speak languages other than Swedish.
