NTI Gymnasiet Sollentuna is an attractive school with a technology program and an IT program focused on networks. The school has about 150 students. We focus on high quality in teaching and have been working for several years with formative assessment, collegial learning, and a teaching group in close collaboration with student health. The school's student health consists of the principal, mentors, special educators, school nurses, school doctors, and school psychologists. We are now looking for a school counselor for 15%.

What we are looking for

As a school counselor, you will be part of the school's student health team and, in collaboration with other staff, work to develop the school's working environment for students. You will contribute to the school's social work with your psychosocial and social competence within student health work at various levels. You will provide guidance and consultation to staff, both individually and in groups. You will conduct conversations with students and parents, both individually and in groups. You will serve as a resource person in the establishment and implementation of action plans in value-based work and against bullying and harassment. If necessary, you will work with crisis management and conflict resolution, social investigations/mapping, and treatment work. You will see collaboration with social services, child and adolescent psychiatry, habilitation, leisure, and police as a given.

Qualifications

Degree in social work.

The work requires the ability to handle multiple perspectives in both direct student work and indirect preventive work. This requires a broad range of working methods, where meeting students on an individual and group level is crucial. An ability to build trust, provide support, see opportunities, and give advice is essential. The work requires deep knowledge of young people, their development, and their situation in society. This means in-depth knowledge of behavioral and social sciences, social legislation, and social treatment work. Knowledge of the legislation governing school activities and confidentiality laws is also important. Furthermore, a broad and continuously updated knowledge of the surrounding world is expected.

The school counselor must independently take responsibility for their own professional work and maintain ongoing dialogue with the principal and student health. This provides great freedom of action but also requires good judgment. It also requires that the school counselor takes responsibility for maintaining and deepening their professional competence and knowledge of the surrounding world.
