Financial Tips: When is the Cheapest Time to Use Electricity?

Taking advantage of electricity during the cheapest hours can make a significant difference in household budgets. Today, the cheapest hour was between 03:00 and 03:59. During this hour, for example, it costs only 1.16 kr to take a shower and 1.75 kr for a bath, based on an average consumption of 4 kWh and 6 kWh, respectively.

Everyday Activities and Their Costs

Running a dishwasher during the cheapest hour today costs only 0.43 kr, while the cost of playing games on a computer is only 0.14 kr. For those with an electric car, a full charge can cost as little as 17.48 kr during these optimal times.

Costs During Expensive Hours

During the most expensive hours, such as between 08:00 and 08:59 today, prices soar to 6.23 kr for a bath and 15.55 kr for running a dishwasher. Charging an electric car can cost as much as 62.34 kr, highlighting the importance of planning energy usage.

Annual Savings

If one were able to utilize the lowest electricity price throughout the year, the cost to heat an average-sized house of 160 sqm would be only 5246 kr. This is compared to 18702 kr if electricity were only used during the most expensive hours, illustrating the potential for significant savings.

Final Thoughts

Keeping an eye on electricity prices and adjusting consumption can clearly reduce monthly costs. With today's technology, it is easier than ever to monitor and adapt electricity usage in real time.
