Case Worker for Economic Assistance in Mölndal

In the City of Mölndal, we are proud to offer some of Sweden's most important jobs, where we together create the best possible daily life for our citizens. With knowledge, courage, and creativity, we develop our operations and contribute to making Mölndal an even better place to live and work. Come and make a difference in people's daily lives every day!

The Social and Employment Administration works to support and help people in need of social support, guidance, and care. We strive to create a safe, equitable, and sustainable city where everyone feels seen and included. As the social services, we are a key actor in the city's work on social sustainability.

You will join a modern, curious, and development-oriented administration with approximately 250 employees. We work with a process-oriented approach where the user is at the center. It is natural for us to keep an eye on the outside world, and we are shifting towards earlier and preventive work in accordance with the new Social Services Act. We want to be a close social service that is present in the arenas where the residents of Mölndal are.

The Unit for Economic Assistance is a support in our labor market process and is closely linked to the Planning & Follow-up Unit. Based on the premise that work is a health factor for the individual, family, and society, we work to increase our focus on work, employment, and correct support. Fundamental to our work is the belief that people want and can take responsibility for their own lives. With a strong labor market perspective, we contribute to more residents of Mölndal entering the workforce and achieving self-sufficiency.

The unit consists of eleven social secretaries and case workers, as well as two senior social secretaries and a unit manager. It is divided into a reception team (four social secretaries) whose main tasks are time booking, on-call duty, and new visits. Other case workers handle ongoing re-applications for applicants who have a need for economic assistance exceeding three months. We have joint method sessions. Also attached to the unit is a case worker handling incorrect payments and estate administration.

The unit works on developing a digitized and automated support system with the goal that the majority of those applying for economic assistance will do so digitally. It should be easy to apply and easy to process correctly. We strive to work with a clear child's perspective in our case processing.

Responsibilities

The unit's common task is to investigate, assess, and make decisions regarding the right to economic assistance. As a case worker, you have delegation authority and make your own decisions that can have a significant impact on the applicant's life. You primarily handle and investigate re-applications for support and other economic assistance, all in accordance with the Social Services Act and guidelines decided by the board.

An important part of the job is collaboration with other units within the operation and with external actors. You will become part of a work group where collegial support is available, and you are expected to participate in the development of the operation.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree in social work or other relevant post-secondary education that the employer deems suitable. It is an advantage if you have several years of experience in handling economic assistance cases. Experience with automated support systems is also an advantage.

You are meticulous, engaged, flexible, responsible, and drive your work forward towards goals. You are team-oriented, unpretentious, and keen to contribute to the best interests of the operation. You plan your work in an efficient and structured manner. You adapt to changed circumstances, see opportunities in changes, and take initiative. You are communicative and have good skills in expressing yourself both verbally and in writing.

In our unit, we help each other and work together, so it is of great importance that you are team-oriented. You understand the common mission, act based on it, and contribute to the whole. In our unit, we value that you have good professional treatment with a focus on the clients. Personal suitability is highly valued.
