SiS Youth Home Brättegården is located just outside Vänersborg. We receive non-compulsory school-age girls with psychosocial problems, mental health issues, as well as those involved in crime and substance abuse.

Job Description

We are seeking treatment assistants for hourly employment.

The goal of your assignment is to motivate young people towards new and less risky ways of living. As a treatment assistant, you ensure that the routines on the ward function as they should. You play a major role in the stability and security for the young people, and you handle the basics of daily life such as school attendance, cleaning, cooking, and more. You contribute to maintaining safety on the institution according to our routines.

Together with your team of dedicated colleagues, such as treatment pedagogues and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied. Our vision is to be a place for change, and this permeates our approach, our engagement, and our attitude.

As a new employee, you will undergo a three-day introductory training and shadow a supervisor during your first shifts.

Our Wards

On the treatment wards, staff work with the young person's individual treatment plan. As a hourly employee, you support your team with everything in daily life so that skills training, structured treatment activities, and program operations can be carried out. We have both a traditional treatment ward and a treatment ward focused on substance abuse.

On our specially reinforced wards (SFA), girls with autism spectrum disorders and/or intellectual disabilities live who need specially adapted care and treatment. The goal is to create security, functional relationships, and find strategies that make it possible to manage life based on existing conditions.

As part of the treatment for discharge, there is an open ward. Here, the focus is on the young person maintaining their acquired skills by practicing being in open forms.

On September 1st, we reopen our ward for reception and needs assessment (MBB), which is usually the young person's first contact with SiS. The task here is to break the cycle of crime, substance abuse, and other socially destructive behavior, stabilize the young person's situation and well-being, and assess their need for further interventions.

Qualifications

Your personal suitability is the key to life-changing change. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a solid positive view of humanity, great empathetic ability, and the ability to build good relationships. You have good communication skills and can maintain your calm even in pressured situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and are happy to share your knowledge with colleagues.

You must also have:

• At least a 2-year post-secondary education from a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) or other education equivalent to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area.*
• Category B driver's license
• Good Swedish in speech and writing

It is an advantage if you have

• Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, e.g., from psychiatry, residential care (HVB), or healthcare and social care.

*Exceptions to the requirement of at least two years of post-secondary education can be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468).

Employment:

As we are expanding with one more ward, we are in need of more people who can work with us on an as-needed basis (hours). You need to be able to work at least 5 shifts per month with us.

Before you start working with us, you need to attend a mandatory 3-day introductory training. This training takes place on two occasions, and it is important that you can participate in one of them. Please state in your application when you can participate:
