Do you want to work with children and young people in an engaged primary care environment? Liljeholmen University Health Centre is now looking for an experienced licensed psychologist to join our child team.

Liljeholmen University Health Centre is part of the Academic Primary Care Centre and provides care, education, development, and research in close collaboration with the Karolinska Institute and other actors within Region Stockholm.

About the position

As a psychologist in the child team, you will work with the assessment and treatment of children and young people with mild to moderate mental health issues. The work is carried out in collaboration with guardians, colleagues at the health centre, and, if necessary, other actors around the child.

You will become part of a psychosocial team consisting of psychologists, psychotherapists, and counsellors. This position suits you if you want to work broadly clinically, with both independence and collegial support, and if you thrive with the broad and varied tasks of primary care.

This is a fixed-term contract for 1 year with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, among other things:

  • Assessing and treating children and young people with mild to moderate mental health issues.
  • Conducting structured assessments, counselling, and shorter treatment interventions.
  • Working with guardian contacts, parental support, and psychoeducation.
  • Collaborating, when necessary, with entities such as schools, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), and social services, as well as documenting and following up on interventions according to current routines.

The work may involve both physical visits and digital healthcare contacts.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed psychologist and have experience in clinical work with children, young people, and their families. You have a good ability to perform psychological assessments, plan treatment interventions, and work independently within the remit of primary care.

You express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and document in a structured and professional manner.

Merits

It is an advantage if you have experience in:

  • Primary care, first-line psychiatry, or similar operations for children and young people.
  • Assessment and treatment of anxiety, depression, stress, sleep difficulties, worry, or behavioural problems.
  • Parental support and family-oriented work.
  • CBT and other evidence-based psychological methods for children and young people.
  • Group therapy and digital treatment interventions.

Personal qualities

We are looking for you who have a warm, professional, and trust-building approach. You enjoy working both independently and in a team, are confident in clinical assessments, and can adapt interventions to the needs of the patient and family.

You have good organizational skills, can prioritize in a varied patient flow, and contribute to a good working climate. We value responsibility, flexibility, and a willingness to develop the operations together with others.

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

The position will be filled provided it does not need to be taken for internal reassignment, according to current regulations.

In patient-related work within the Stockholm County Council healthcare area:

  • A register check is applied before the decision on employment according to SLSO's overarching guidelines for register checks upon employment.
  • Employees who will have patient contact must undergo a new employment examination, according to current directives, which is done through occupational health services before employment.
  • In addition to Swedish professional licensure, good knowledge of the Swedish language corresponding to level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is required. The same requirements are guiding for non-licensed personnel with patient contact.
