Road Engineer for Planning and Investigation in Nyköping

The Technical Division operates its own activities and consists of five business areas: Roads, Parks and Harbour, Nyköping Water, Waste Management, Meal Service, and Municipal Properties. These are supported by a project department, an economics department, and an administrative staff. Approximately 400 permanent employees work within the division, which has an annual turnover of over 1 billion SEK. Our clients are the Municipal Executive Board, the Environment and Urban Planning Committee, and the Culture and Leisure Committee.

About the Roads, Parks and Harbour Unit

This unit is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and development of roads, parks, and the Nyköping harbour on behalf of the Environment and Urban Planning Committee, as well as certain leisure facilities on behalf of the Culture and Leisure Committee. The goal is to ensure that Nyköping has a functional and safe road and street system that meets the needs of road users regarding accessibility, traffic safety, and security. Well-maintained streets, beautiful park environments, safe playgrounds, and a vibrant harbour are intended to make Nyköping an attractive place for both residents and visitors.

About the Position

The Planning and Investigation Unit is now looking for a Road Engineer to complement the other road engineers in the unit's work. You will join a cheerful team of 18 people with various professions. The unit's work is carried out in close collaboration with colleagues in the operational units for roads, parks, and harbour, as well as other operations and administrations within Nyköping Municipality.

Responsibilities

As a Road Engineer, you will drive and follow up on projects that develop Nyköping's public environments. You will lead and monitor projects from idea to implementation and be responsible for investigations, design, as well as technical and economic follow-up. You will have significant independent responsibility to monitor and make decisions on matters concerning the operations.

You will actively contribute to the continuous development work within the Roads area and act as an expert in collaboration with other administrations and operations. The position also includes:

• Processing of Traffic Access Plans (TA-planer).
• Participation in detailed planning work and review of detailed plans.
• Permit handling.
• Responding to comments and questions from the public related to the unit's projects and assignments.

Qualifications and Merits

Requirements:

• Education within the construction and civil engineering field, or experience that the employer deems equivalent.
• Interest in urban planning and infrastructure issues.
• Good ability to communicate fluently in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
• Basic knowledge of English, both orally and in writing.
• Good knowledge of the Office package.
• Valid driver's license (Category B).

Merits:

• Experience with civil engineering works from design to implementation.
• Good knowledge of contract law and economics.
• Experience in driving projects within the construction and civil engineering sector.
• Data skills in GIS environments and QGIS.
• Knowledge of Topocad and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of the Public Procurement Act.
