Nurse for Medical Department, Lycksele

Lycksele is located in southern Lapland. The airport, situated 5 km outside the city center, offers flights to Arlanda in just over an hour. By bus, you can reach the coast and Umeå in two hours, or the mountains in Tärnaby, Hemavan, or Borgafjäll in just an hour. The medical department is part of the Medical Center Southern Lapland. We collaborate closely with other departments and clinics at the hospital, within the region, and with local health centers in the same healthcare district. We are located at Lycksele Hospital, a medium-sized hospital. Patients arrive by their own means, taxi, ambulance, or our medical helicopter.

We provide 24/7 care in general internal medicine, including lung diseases, cardiology, infections, and metabolic conditions. Nurses work in teams with assistant nurses and doctors. We also collaborate closely with paramedics, district nurses, and speech therapists. We have discharge coordinators who manage transition planning for patients returning home.

Newly graduated nurses undergo an introductory year that includes continuous training opportunities throughout the first year. As a foundation, you will also receive training in ProAct. Annual follow-ups are conducted for CPR and patient handling training. Working in a 24/7 operation includes a salary supplement of 3,000 SEK. On the medical department, we use a modified 3-3 shift model, which practically means a reduction in working hours to 88 percent, compensated with buffer shifts.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. We appreciate that you have experience in the role and possess good medical knowledge.

You are confident in your professional role and accustomed to making assessments. You have good communication skills, are empathetic, and provide a warm welcome. You are comfortable with computers and have digital confidence. You speak and write Swedish fluently and understand and can express yourself in English. Other language skills are meritorious. You thrive working both independently and in teams. You are attracted by the challenge that every conversation is unique and gives you the opportunity to help people achieve better health.

Previous experience in emergency care and ward work is meritorious but not a requirement. You share our vision: Good care with soft hands, sharp minds, and warm hearts.
