Nurses for Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation, NHHC
Region Västerbotten works to ensure that good health and sustainable development strengthen one another. We take responsibility for an equitable welfare system and for ensuring that research and innovation yield results.
Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation is part of the Neuro-Head-Neck Centre (NHHC). NHHC consists of approximately 650 employees and is located at Norrlands University Hospital in Umeå. The centre provides care involving various aspects of investigation, treatment, and rehabilitation for diseases and injuries to the nervous system, brain, ears, nose, throat, and jaw. It operates as a county clinic providing highly specialized care for patients from the entire northern healthcare region, while also conducting research, education, and development.
Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation offers both inpatient and day care services, treating patients with spinal cord and brain injuries. Since April 2023, we have held permission from the National Board of Health and Welfare to provide national highly specialized care for spinal cord injuries within inpatient rehabilitation.
Here, you are offered a developing and exciting job with close collaboration with your colleagues and other professions. All new employees receive a mentor during the onboarding process. Additionally, the region's Mentorship Platform is available. During weekdays, we have a coordinating nurse who supports discharge processes and is available for advice in daily work. We also have a care coordinator managing daily logistics. We offer regular internal training in various areas.
We are currently seeking two nurses. We apply a business-adapted desired schedule, giving you great opportunities to influence your working hours. Are you curious about us and what it is like to work here? Follow us on Instagram: @neurorehab_nus (https://www.instagram.com/neurorehab_nus)
Responsibilities
As a nurse with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that make people feel safe.
In your role, you are responsible for the nursing care and rehabilitation of inpatients. We provide highly specialized care, meaning we admit patients at an early stage, often directly from intensive care, with ongoing needs for tracheostomy and respiratory support. We then follow the patient throughout the entire rehabilitation process until discharge/home. The goal is for the patient to become as independent as possible.
The work includes everything from personal care, medical handling, and supporting the patient in the rehabilitation process in a team with other professional categories. You plan and perform medical nursing interventions in close collaboration with assistant nurses. As a nurse, you are a vital link in a multidisciplinary team, which requires good communication and teamwork skills.
As a newly graduated nurse, you can participate in the region's introductory year for nurses during working hours, providing you with conditions for competence development and reflection.
For nursing staff working in round-the-clock operations, Region Västerbotten offers increased flexibility through various working time models. These models focus on recovery through reduced working hours, increased opportunities to influence one's working hours, and higher compensation for working inconvenient hours.
Supervision of students and colleagues is included as we are a university hospital with educational responsibilities.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse.
You are an engaged and driven nurse interested in working with highly specialized care and rehabilitation. As a person, you are responsible and capable of working independently. Since we work closely in teams with many different professional groups, it is important that you have good collaboration skills and a welcoming attitude.
Patients stay with us for a long time, and the attitude towards the patient and their relatives is important for their rehabilitation. If you have previous experience in neurological rehabilitation, it is meritorious but not a requirement.
