About the Role

We are now looking for an Optical Technician who can work in southern and central Sweden. Are you an independent problem solver who enjoys working at heights? Then you could be Vattenfall Services' new Optical Technician!

The Role of Optical Technician

Our main task is to offer our customers qualified services within communication systems. The fiber network we primarily work with is used for control and monitoring of the power grid, as well as rental to external customers. Most of the fiber network we work with is co-built with overhead lines at 40-400 kV.

We offer you a free and responsible job where you will have great opportunities to manage and organize your own work. The work is varied, so your days will look very different. There are also good opportunities for continued personal and technical development.

Your main areas of responsibility:

• Participate in fault resolution on our customers' fiber networks
• Perform annual maintenance measurements
• Perform measurements according to customer requests, e.g., OTDR and power measurements
• Actively participate in and plan projects together with the project manager
• Create documentation of completed work
• Handle supplier and contractor contacts

Travel with overnight stays is a natural part of the job as an Optical Technician. Therefore, it is important that you are a person who thrives with a varied daily life with all of southern and central Sweden as your workplace. The number of nights away varies depending on the period and workload.

Requirements

We are looking for you who enjoy working in a service-oriented manner, both independently and together with others. You appreciate solving problems and contributing to everything working smoothly, even when challenges arise. To thrive in the role, it is important that you enjoy working outdoors and at heights.

We know that you will develop together with us. However, we would like you to already have:

• Education in fiber technology or electric power. Alternatively, corresponding experience
• Experience of working within fiber networks or other field work within electric power/electrical installation
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English
• Category B driver's license

Merits:

• Experience with OTDR measurements
• Certification as a fiber technician
• Training in ESA, pole climbing, or electrical safety leadership
