With Present – Praying – Reconciling as our guiding principles, the Church of Sweden in Lund is taking new steps towards future challenges. The Church of Sweden in Lund is a parish area comprising 7 congregations, 1 cathedral, 15 churches (including one collaboration church with EFS), 3 chapels, 2 preschools, funeral services, and an administrative office.

Additionally, our operations include a Hospital Church, Family Counseling, and the Diakonia Centre. Here, we have over 200 employees working alongside numerous volunteers, including over 130 elected officials. The Church Council holds the overall responsibility, and all operations are led by the Dean. Each congregation has its own parish council and parish priest.

We are looking for support in the kitchen at the Diakonia Centre in Lund. The position is 50% and involves assisting the housekeeper in daily tasks, as well as being able and willing to cook when the housekeeper is not present. Since we are a small team, it is important that everyone helps with the full range of kitchen duties, such as dishwashing, cleaning, etc.

The heart of our operation is the kitchen. The aromas from cooking and baking, along with the community gathered around the tables, are the hub of our work. We prepare approximately 25 meals per day. The kitchen staff consists of the housekeeper, who plans the menu and leads the daily work, and an economic assistant who handles serving our guests.

Qualifications:

• Experience in cooking.
• Experience in standard kitchen work.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. In addition to practical knowledge, we desire that you have:

• Good teamwork skills.
• A sense of humor.
• Experience in meeting people with varying needs and conditions.
• An open and respectful attitude towards our guests, and that you share the Church of Sweden's basic values.

The employment begins with a six-month probationary period, with the possibility of a permanent contract after the successful completion of the probation.

The Diakonia Centre is an established operation within the Church of Sweden in Lund. Our building was completed in 1901, and since the 1960s, we have worked in a manner similar to today. We exist for those who need a place for community, to read the newspaper in peace, or simply to "be" and have breakfast and lunch at cost price. If you are in an insecure housing situation, we can offer showers and clean clothes. You are welcome "as you are".
