Our Operations

We are looking for an occupational therapist for a fixed-term position in the Geriatrics, Rehabilitation Medicine, and Pain Centre. Our department is characterized by multidisciplinary teams and has a broad mandate, making it meaningful, exciting, and developmental to work here.

Geriatrics is a section within the department, where we provide highly specialized geriatric care for elderly patients. Geriatrics consists of three inpatient wards and a memory and geriatric clinic. The memory and geriatric clinic is an outpatient geriatric clinic with three focuses (home and day rehabilitation, memory clinic, and research clinic). We now need to strengthen our team within home and day rehabilitation.

We provide day and home rehabilitation for geriatric patients, primarily those with stroke, Parkinson's disease, or osteoporosis, but patient groups may expand as outpatient care plays a more significant role in the future. Here, work is based on the multidisciplinary team where our health professionals play a central role in rehabilitation. We have a multiprofessional team that collaborates around the patient.

Your Role

The foundation of our work is the multiprofessional team, based on a holistic view of the patient.

In day and home rehabilitation, the occupational therapist participates in referral assessments and team conferences together with the rest of the team and plans the patients' rehabilitation.

Home rehabilitation is conducted after the patient's discharge from the hospital wards and is initiated via referral, usually from the stroke ward or the rehabilitation medicine and neurogeriatric wards. An initial assessment visit is carried out together with another professional in the team, typically a physiotherapist or speech therapist. The occupational therapist assesses hand function, need for assistive devices, and need for training in activities. Following this, a time-limited rehabilitation period in the patient's home may become relevant.

Within day rehabilitation, the occupational therapist participates in 3–6-month team follow-ups after stroke, and is responsible for individual training and group training for patients with stroke, as well as for persons with Parkinson's.

In collaboration with physicians, the occupational therapist also conducts driving ability tests for patients who have had a stroke.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed occupational therapist, preferably with a few years of experience from clinical work in neurology and/or knowledge of cognition, as well as experience in teamwork. If you have experience from home care/rehabilitation, we see this as meritorious. You should have a genuine interest in elderly patients. If you are a recent graduate but find this interesting, you are certainly welcome to apply.

The work involves close contact with patients and relatives, which places demands on good interpersonal skills, flexibility, and good cooperation skills. You have the ability to prioritize and create structure among your various tasks. As we have different parts of our clinic, there is an opportunity for varied work if desired. A B-class driver's license is required as travel to patients is done with the department's vehicles.
