What you'll do

You will support the integration and commissioning of services and infrastructure for the CMS Tracker construction at CERN, with a focus on the preparation and validation of services, as well as the reception testing of components and detector assemblies. The role also includes the setup and operation of test electronics for the commissioning of detector services and the functional testing of detector components and assemblies.

Your responsibilities

  • Prepare and support the installation and commissioning of services and infrastructure for large detector assemblies (e.g. cables, racks and test setups).
  • Set up and operate test electronics and commissioning setups (e.g. interlocks, sensor interfaces and thermal test configurations).
  • Perform reception testing of detector substructures and components, including power distribution hardware delivered to CERN.
  • Validate integrated electrical services (power, signal and grounding interfaces) installed on detector assemblies and troubleshoot issues during construction.
  • Maintain traceability by updating the production database with acceptance test reports and installation data.

Your profile

  • Proficiency in the assembly, installation and wiring of electronic components (e.g. cabling, soldering, SMD components, sensors, boards).
  • Hands-on experience with electrical testing and measurement techniques using laboratory and test equipment (e.g. multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes), including the preparation of test setups.
  • Experience in maintaining laboratory equipment and inventory, updating technical databases, and documenting testing procedures and results.
  • Higher technical diploma or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Electronics or a related field.
  • Additional relevant certificates are considered an asset.

Employment conditions

  • A valid driving licence.
  • Shift work, when required by the needs of the Organization.
  • Work in Radiation Areas.
  • Interventions in underground installations.
  • Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organization.
