Recruitment: Rehabilitation Assistant for the Therapy Pool, Rheumatology Clinic in Umeå

The Rheumatology Clinic is a county clinic with units in Umeå, Lycksele, and Skellefteå. The outpatient operations are extensive, and the majority of patients suffer from rheumatic inflammatory diseases requiring active medical treatment, often in combination with rehabilitation. The Umeå unit also includes a Therapy Pool where two staff members work.

The operations consist of group training in the pool, and the facility is primarily used by healthcare clinics and health centers. Rehabilitation assistants at the Therapy Pool lead the Rheumatology Clinic's groups together with physiotherapists, while other clinics using the pool have their own group leaders.

Job Responsibilities

You will handle healthcare administration, including cash register/reception duties and registration in the patient journal system. A new group of up to 20 people arrives every hour for pool training.

• Assist with dressing and undressing, and occasionally with transfers in and out of the pool.
• Lead groups in water gymnastics, approx. 1–2 groups per week.
• Be present in the pool hall and be able to act in case of incidents. The job is partly physically demanding, requiring good physical fitness.
• Ongoing cleaning and maintenance of the premises during the day, as patient throughput is high. Ordering of materials.

The Therapy Pool is closed during Christmas/New Year and for two summer months for maintenance. During this time, you will be included in the Rheumatology Clinic's holiday staffing.

Qualifications and Requirements

We are looking for a person with previous experience from the healthcare sector. Assistant nurse qualifications are required. You must be able to work independently and have the readiness to act in case of incidents (e.g., illness, lifesaving in the pool).

You should be able to lead pool training groups in an inspiring manner, taking into account the limitations of various diseases. This is done in consultation with the clinic's physiotherapists, as the training session is part of medical treatment. The training is adapted to functional impairment and disease presentation.

Swimming proficiency and knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as well as lifesaving in the pool are mandatory. If you lack knowledge in CPR and lifesaving in the pool, we can discuss how to resolve this. We offer recurring training initiatives in this area.

You should be service-oriented and have a good manner of dealing with people. You must be able to switch between different tasks, including administration, patient contact, and care, leading water gymnastics sessions, as well as maintenance and cleaning of the premises. Good physical fitness is a requirement. Personal suitability is highly valued.

• Duration: 6 months or longer. The position covers the period from 2026-09-01 to 2027-06-30, with the possibility of extension.
