We are looking for a Caretaker for Vetlanda Pastorate

Location: Vetlanda Pastorate, Fröderyd area.

Position: Caretaker (permanent employment).

Job Responsibilities

The duties are multifaceted, combining technical craftsmanship with customer service. Some of the most common tasks on the graveyard and our other areas include:

• Planting and maintenance of plants.
• Watering, weed control, and hedge trimming.
• Tree pruning, trimming, and lawn mowing.
• Leaf collection.

As a caretaker, you are also responsible for property maintenance and upkeep of the church building. You prepare and carry out work in premises for worship services and other events. If you have the necessary qualifications and training, the work may also include handling small loaders, hot water washing, and other gardening machinery.

Being the Face of the Church of Sweden

On the graveyard, you meet visitors daily who may need everything from practical help and guidance regarding graveyard matters to a listening ear. You become the face of the Church of Sweden, and we consider it fundamental that you can meet visitors with dignity and empathy.

You will work both independently and in a team with other graveyard workers and church caretakers. You focus on the big picture and help your colleagues when needed. The work is physically demanding with heavy lifting involved, and we work outdoors regardless of the weather. We use modern tools to facilitate the work.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with knowledge and/or work experience from, for example, graveyards, gardens/parks, or construction work. To be considered for the position, you need:

• Good social competence and a welcoming attitude towards both colleagues and visitors.
• A service-oriented approach.
• Flexibility to handle various tasks.
• Good physical fitness and stamina.
• At least 5 years of experience at the start date of employment.
• Good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Familiarity with machinery and valid licenses for gardening and construction equipment are meritorious.

Conditions and Application

• Category B and E driver's licenses are meritorious.
• Membership in the Church of Sweden is required.
