Reliable and clear-minded person sought for active child with autism

We work to create a meaningful daily life for children and young people with disabilities, focusing on safety, participation, and development.

We are now looking for an engaged and empathetic person to support a 13-year-old boy with autism. He needs structure, predictability, and clear communication in his daily life. In challenging situations, he may display outwardly aggressive behavior, which requires you to be secure, stable, and able to remain calm.

Do you have experience or education in neuropsychiatric disabilities and low-affective handling? Do you want to be a significant adult who builds trust, safety, and developmental opportunities for a child?

As a pedagogical assistant in our adapted short-term care, you will work closely with the child and provide support based on his needs and daily condition. You will become an important part of creating a safe and functional daily routine with clear structures and respectful interaction.

We offer you supervision and support, wellness benefits, and a meaningful and developing daily work life.

Your responsibilities

The role involves supporting the child in short-term care before and after school, as well as on school holidays. Your main tasks include:

  • Creating a safe and structured daily life.
  • Assisting with personal care and hygiene.
  • Motivating and supporting the child in play and activities.
  • De-escalating and managing situations where the child experiences frustration.

Working hours are weekdays 06:30–08:00 and 13:00–17:00. During school holidays, hours are 06:30–17:00.

Who are you?

We are primarily looking for you who are a support assistant and have upper secondary education in care and nursing, child and youth care, or are trained as a social pedagogue and/or personal assistant, preferably with a focus on social work. A valid B-class driver's license is required for this position.

Qualifications that are meritorious for the position include:

  • Experience working as a personal assistant, support assistant, or in school/recreational settings.
  • Knowledge of alternative communication methods such as picture support or PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System).
  • Completed training in autism and low-affective handling.

We are looking for you who have a genuine commitment to children and young people and who see the child's unique needs, strengths, and opportunities. You are a secure, mature, and independent person who creates trusting relationships with warmth, care, and respectful interaction, while also enjoying collaboration with colleagues.

You are patient and empathetic, with the ability to remain calm even in challenging situations. With good judgment and a low-affective approach, you meet the child based on their needs and do not take situations or behaviors personally. We also believe you have pedagogical insight that helps you adapt support, activities, and interactions to create the best possible conditions for development, participation, and well-being.

You have the endurance to create structure and build security over time. With a positive attitude and creativity, you contribute to meaningful activities. Since the child has an active pace and the work may involve play, activities, and some lifting, it is important that you are physically fit and enjoy an active daily life both indoors and outdoors.
