Region Värmland works for an equitable and accessible healthcare system where the inhabitants are at the center. We take responsibility for ensuring that good health and sustainable development go hand in hand – both for those we care for and for you as an employee.
Here in Värmland, you get the combination of meaningful work and a life with proximity to forests, lakes, and a rich leisure life. Our hospital in Karlstad is modern and well-equipped, and we have a close and well-functioning collaboration within the medical clinic, primary care, and the highly specialized clinics in Örebro, Uppsala, and Gothenburg.
Your workplace
The Medical Clinic in Karlstad covers the specialties of pulmonology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, hematology, rheumatology, and geriatrics. The Heart Clinic and the Kidney Clinic operate as separate units. Additionally, we are in the process of establishing a new internal medicine ward. To meet the increasing needs of the operations and future development, we are now looking for more employees who want to contribute to our continued growth and development.
At the medical clinic, there is a strong sense of cohesion, short decision-making paths, and a positive educational climate. Here, you quickly become part of the team – and an important part of the group that makes a difference for patients every day.
We offer:
- A well-structured Specialist Training (ST) with supervision by specialists in internal medicine.
- The opportunity to combine broad internal medicine competence with subspecialization.
- Opportunities for research.
- Training within the clinic and within the ST group on a weekly basis.
- Time for independent study half a day per week.
- A working climate where we lift and support each other.
- All the benefits that Region Värmland offers. Read more about benefits on our website.
Your responsibilities
You are offered a broad and high-quality internal medicine education covering the entire spectrum of internal medicine. As a Specialist Trainee (ST-läkare), you will have a varied schedule mixed with ward work, on-call duties, outpatient clinics, and ward rounds. You will design a clear individual training plan adapted to your goals and the clinic's needs.
In addition to the specialty-specific program, you will participate in Region Värmland's appreciated own courses (ethics, law, and leadership), an education that gives you tools to grow both professionally and personally.
Your knowledge and competencies
We are looking for you who have:
- Swedish medical license with eligibility to work in Swedish healthcare at the latest upon commencement.
- An interest in specializing in internal medicine.
- Good teamwork skills and a solution-oriented approach.
- Good knowledge of Swedish at least at C1 level.
A PhD and active research are meritorious but not a requirement.
As a person, you have good personal maturity and are confident in yourself, which enables you to handle different situations with judgment and respect. You are flexible and thrive even when conditions in everyday life can change quickly. Collaboration is a natural part of your working style, and you contribute to a positive work environment. Through your empathetic ability, you meet colleagues and patients in a listening manner, while working in a structured and organized way.
