Temporary Personal Assistant – Sundbyberg
Hello! My name is Caroline, but everyone calls me Carro. I am 45 years old and live in Sundbyberg with my Siberian cats, Emmie and Liam. I have a congenital physical disability and live with personal assistance around the clock.
I have had assistance for over 20 years, which means I am confident in how I want my help provided and am accustomed to leading my assistants. I have a small, stable assistant group where most have worked with me for a long time. As a temporary substitute, you will become a valuable part of this team.
About the Position
We are currently looking for temporary substitutes (hourly workers) for day, evening, and night shifts. Since I have assistance 24/7, working hours vary. At night, I have an on-call sleep shift between 03:00–07:00, which means there will be a lot of awake time during the shift.
The position is on an as-needed basis, and working hours vary from month to month. Therefore, it is a great advantage if you have a flexible lifestyle and a regular job. During the autumn (September–November 2026), there will be opportunities to work more regularly due to holidays and study leave of regular assistants.
Who Are You?
I am looking for a woman between 20 and 60 years old. Age is not the most important factor – the most important thing is our personal chemistry and that we work well together. You must be at least 18 years old.
You are calm, confident, and comfortable in various environments. You are a non-smoker and have good physical fitness, as the work may require you to move freely, bend down, squat, etc. You are not allergic to or afraid of cats.
Working alone is not a problem for you. You are solution-oriented and have a good sense of humor. Communication is crucial, so you need to have a good understanding of Swedish to ensure safe and high-quality assistance.
Tasks and Environment
Being my assistant means you are my extended arms and legs. I take full responsibility for my life and what it should contain – you do not need to worry about that. Your task is to help me where my body physically cannot. I will guide you step by step.
I spend a lot of time at home with my cats. Helping with Emmie and Liam is part of the job, so you must be comfortable with cats nearby and able to lift or carry them when needed.
The work varies greatly. There are times when I just need you present in the background. During these times, it is perfectly fine to read, study, paint, or engage in other meaningful activities, as long as you are ready to help when I need you.
About Me and My Needs
I love reading, going to the cinema, and concerts. I enjoy a coffee in town when time and energy permit. I use an electric wheelchair and also have a manual wheelchair.
I need help with practical tasks such as transfers, dressing and undressing, showering, toilet visits, intimate hygiene, hand-holding, cooking, and household management. All transfers are done using a ceiling lift, which is gentle for both you and me, but good physical fitness and some strength are advantages.
I am partially tube-fed via a gastrostomy and have a suprapubic catheter. Therefore, strict hand hygiene is essential. Please note that if you have nail extensions, they will likely break during work.
At night, I use a ventilator to help me breathe while sleeping.
Experience and Start
No previous experience with jobs or assistive devices is required. The most important thing is that you are receptive, take instructions, and are willing to learn. Before you start working independently, you will undergo an introductory shift in August.
