About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new, renovating, and expanding, and are now looking for more employees. Job Description
As the Duty Officer, you will, in consultation with the Prison and Probation Officers, be responsible for the security at the facility and operationally lead and distribute daily tasks, with security work as a particularly prioritized area. You have a special operational responsibility during incidents. The work is varied, with sometimes high tempo and many balls in the air.
To solve the tasks, good and close cooperation with all positions within the operational area is required. The Duty Officer is on duty Monday to Sunday and, outside office hours, constitutes the highest local operational decision-maker under the Prison and Probation Director on call. The work is varied and often maintains a high tempo. As the Duty Officer at Örebro Detention Center, you anchor decisions made, communicate directly and clearly, and contribute to a safe and efficient work environment. The role also includes supporting and leading staff in a positive and developmental manner.
You represent the employer and are a guarantee that the line of command is maintained all the way out to all staff, anchoring decisions made and holding a support function for the Prison and Probation Officers.
Some of the tasks included in the position are to prepare security assessments, follow up on daily security work and its procedures to maintain a high dynamic security profile, and take measures when necessary. The Duty Officer also continuously assesses the need for staffing and collaborates with coordinated staffing for planning and is responsible for staff ranking outside office hours.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is structured, secure, and stable, but who also has the ability to adapt to changed circumstances. You have very good cooperation skills and relate to people in a listening and flexible manner. In your professional practice, you show good judgment and resolve conflicts constructively. You have the ability to overview and view the operations from a holistic perspective. In the role of Duty Officer, you behave professionally in cooperation with internal and external agency contacts and express a positive attitude towards the operations.

You are also aware of and have an understanding of how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. As a Duty Officer, you have an important role in the operations, and great weight will be placed on personal suitability.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Complete upper secondary education in the form of final grades or a high school diploma
- Approved basic training from the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
- Work experience in leading others from a corresponding position as Duty Officer or another managerial position
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
- Good administrative skills and experience working in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's administrative programs
- The Swedish Prison and Probation Service's internal Duty Officer training
It is meritorious if you have:
- Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management
- Training in OC spray and baton
- Relevant language skills
- Category B driver's license
