Shape the future of design and AI at Samhall
Samhall has undergone a technological transformation where user needs are the starting point for everything we develop. We are now looking for a Senior UX Designer to join our new design unit.
What does future UX work look like in practice? This is the question we want you to help us answer. We believe the answer lies in moving away from manually drawing interfaces towards finding new pathways from insight to tested solutions. For us, AI is not the goal but the tool: it handles the repetitive tasks and frees up time for human interaction and value creation. We are looking for someone with the drive to explore possibilities, the judgment to determine what meets the standard, and the systems thinking to embed your insights into the design system.
About the role
You will become part of our design unit, working closely with our Design Manager, three Service Designers, and a UX Designer as your closest colleagues, as well as collaborating closely with Samhall's technology and service teams. You will drive UX work in daily operations, mentor your junior colleague, and take over UX initiatives currently driven by consultants.
Your mission is to further develop our insight-driven and iterative UX approach, establish AI as a natural part of it, and ensure that Samhall's digital solutions are intuitive, efficient, and accessible, not least cognitively. We keep the focus on the customer and employee journey in all design decisions.
Parts of our working method are already in place, while we are building others now: you do not inherit finished structures, you help shape them.
You will mainly:
- Explore before you build: Gather insights through interviews, observation, and co-creation, and understand the problem before choosing a solution.
- Work hypothesis-driven and close to users: Test working AI-supported prototypes with real users in tight loops.
- Make usability testing part of everyday life: As Samhall's testing activities grow.
- Own and develop our design system: Principles, tokens, and patterns that AI-assisted development builds directly on, so that every draft starts closer to the right direction.
- Build a working method that learns: Insights from each test feed the next loop and make our AI support smarter.
- Be the one who raises quality: Review and curate what is produced, with care for usability, consistency, and details.
- Make accessibility a given: Accessibility is present from the first draft, and your usability tests naturally include people with different prerequisites. At Samhall, a solution is not complete if it does not work in its proper context.
About you
- You have extensive experience in UX or interaction design, and you have built or owned a design system that is used in practice.
- You have established working methods that did not exist before you arrived, and you know what is required to make them stick.
- You are driven by understanding the people you design for, and you listen before you solve.
- You can prioritize the whole: deciding what is most important to solve now and what can wait.
- For you, AI is a natural tool in the design work, and you quality-assure what is produced.
- You see accessibility as a natural part of good design. You have deep knowledge of standards such as WCAG, but you also know that true accessibility is proven in the meeting with the user, not in a checklist.
Experience for us is less about the number of years and more about what you have done with them. You share Samhall's values and are attentive, reliable, and engaged.
Why Samhall
Samhall exists so that people with disabilities can develop through work. For a designer, this means something few employers can offer: the users who set the highest demands for good design are your colleagues. Designing together with them provides insights that few others get, and creates solutions that become better for everyone.
