We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Here, something is always happening – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!
Make a real difference – every day.
Do you want to work with highly specialized care that challenges, develops, and engages? On Ward 100B1, you will meet patients at different stages of life and have the opportunity to contribute where it is truly needed – in a practice where knowledge, teamwork, and security are at the center.
Our Practice
Our nursing ward has 7 beds and admits patients with complex conditions within rheumatology, endocrinology/diabetes, and dermatology. We care for people with everything from autoimmune rheumatological systemic diseases to newly diagnosed diabetes, hormonal disorders, and advanced skin diseases. SLE, Systemic sclerosis, Myositis, Vasculitis, Cushing's syndrome, Type 1 Diabetes, Psoriasis, and Epidermolysis bullosa are just a few of the diagnoses we treat.
Many of our patients return over time, giving you the chance to build trusting and long-term relationships.
Your Role
The nursing assistant's task primarily involves working closely with the patient and being responsible for basic care. As a nursing assistant, you should be able to contribute to meeting the patient's individual care needs. You are responsible, together with the nurse, for providing safe patient care.
- You perform ordered checks and report deviations to the responsible nurse
- You help and support patients with their ADL (Activities of Daily Living) needs and evaluate the patient's care needs
- You contribute to the assessment of the patient's care risks and implement measures for this
- You perform blood sampling and major wound dressings
- You ensure the patient's fluid and nutritional intake
- You document performed care measures in the medical record
- You motivate the patient to be involved in their own care
Your Qualifications
You are a certified nursing assistant and are driven by providing the highest quality care. It is an advantage if you have previously worked in a hospital. Great importance is placed on personal suitability and reference checks. Since the care team is small and patients often return, good cooperation, clear communication, and respect are central values for us.
We would like you to:
- be flexible and able to adapt to varying work pace
- be responsible and put the patient first
- create secure relationships with patients and relatives
- have a curiosity to learn and develop
- actively contribute ideas and suggestions for improvement
- enjoy working in a small staff group as well as with the medical and recurring patient group
We Offer
- Permanent position at 80%, with the possibility to start now or in the autumn
- Rotation service, i.e., day, evening, and night shifts
- An individually adapted introduction with several supervisors and follow-up check-ins
- Scheduled training days
- Opportunity to observe in relevant special areas
- A workplace where you are seen, supported, and have the opportunity to develop.
We are not afraid to try new things. We learn from what has been positive and negative and continuously develop our working methods. Those who work on the ward all have different life experiences and competencies, which we are glad about. Our focus is to provide high-quality care where active employee participation is a given. With us, you get benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/ (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/)).
