Description
The International Office is looking for an International Coordinator to handle administration and processing related to exchange programs, tuition fees, and exchanges for students and staff. The position is a full-time fixed-term appointment for six months, starting 2026-09-01, or as agreed.
Internationalization at Umeå University is carried out at many different levels and involves both staff and students. The International Office works on university-wide internationalization issues. Our responsibilities include managing the university's participation in numerous exchange programs, networks, and international collaborations, tuition fee administration, international student recruitment, international alumni activities, and supporting the mobility of students and staff. We work in close collaboration with departments, faculties, and other units.
The International Office is an independent unit within the university administration with 20 employees. We offer a dynamic workplace with exciting interactions with students, teachers, and partners from around the world.
Responsibilities
The position of International Coordinator is an administrative role. As an International Coordinator, you will be involved in various tasks at the International Office. Your responsibilities may include:
- Informing, communicating, and providing service to foreign exchange students.
- Informing, communicating, and providing service to outgoing students.
- Working with applications and reporting regarding student exchange and exchange programs.
- Processing scholarship payments related to student and staff mobility.
- Administering financial and scholarship management regarding tuition fees for international fee-paying students.
- Informing, communicating, and providing service to faculties and departments at the university.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with an interest in international issues, preferably within higher education. You hold a degree from a university/college that we consider relevant. Additionally, we look for:
- Relevant and current experience in independent, qualified administrative work.
- Previous experience in administrative work focused on internationalization within universities/colleges.
- Experience working with issues and regulations concerning the promotion of international mobility for students, staff, and teachers.
- Personal experience of being on an international exchange.
- Good computer skills and familiarity with working in M365.
- Good proficiency in English and Swedish, both spoken and written, and the ability to use English as a working language.
As a person, you have a professional attitude towards administrative work with a high level of service in both internal and external contacts. You have strong initiative and organizational skills with an eye for detail, which means you are flexible and enjoy working in an environment with varied tasks and at different levels. The role also requires an open-minded approach where you work in a solution-focused and non-hierarchical manner. We see that you are confident as an individual and can function well working independently as well as in a team. Great importance will be attached to your personal qualities.

The position is a full-time fixed-term appointment for six months, starting 2026-09-01 or as agreed.
