Job Responsibilities

We are now looking for Environmental Inspectors for the Environmental and Health Protection Department, for both permanent and fixed-term positions. Here, you will have an important role as an Environmental Inspector, performing supervision according to the Environmental Code with the aim of creating a sustainable society for current and future generations.

We work to promote sustainable development so that residents of Malmö today and in the future can have a healthy and good environment. Our mission is to conduct investigations, perform supervision, and control according to Sweden's environmental legislation, primarily the Environmental Code.

There are good opportunities to adapt the position to your areas of competence, as we handle all common tasks within environmental supervision. Examples include supervision of manufacturing industry, waste companies, the automotive industry, agriculture, dental clinics, and contaminated areas.

Qualifications

To succeed in the role of Environmental Inspector, you need the ability to work independently and plan your work within the framework of your assignment. You have a good holistic perspective and can make factual and objective assessments, as well as set clear requirements when necessary. It is important that you can determine which requirements are relevant in different types of cases. The role also requires strong communication skills and a service-oriented approach.

You need to be pedagogical and professional in your communication. Furthermore, we believe you are unpretentious and enjoy collaborating in various forums, both internally and externally, and that you have the ability to build trust in your contacts. You contribute to a good working climate through a positive and solution-oriented approach.

You have a strong commitment to environmental and health protection issues and share our vision of a sustainable city.

To be considered for the position, you must have:

  • A degree in environmental and health protection or another natural science, technical, or environment-oriented university education, alternatively a university diploma with a clear connection to societal issues that the employer deems relevant for the role.
  • Very good ability to communicate in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
  • A valid B-class driver's license.

Merits for the position include:

  • Experience in service-oriented work and good customer service.
  • Experience from supervision work according to the Environmental Code.
  • Good knowledge of English or other languages.

About the Workplace

The unit works primarily with operators within the business sector. We are responsible for the supervision of, among others, the waste industry, manufacturing industries, the automotive industry, dental clinics, refrigeration equipment, and the handling of chemical products. Through information, advice, and service, we support businesses and help minimize risks to both the environment and human health.

The Environmental Administration's mission is to improve the environment and protect human health. We lead and coordinate Malmö City's environmental and climate work, perform supervision according to the Environmental Code and the Food Act, and drive the transition towards a more sustainable city. Through supervision, advice, and strategic environmental work, we make a difference for Malmö and the planet.
