Department of Neurosurgery – Operating Room Nurse at Akademiska Sjukhuset
We are Akademiska Sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Here, something is always happening – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!
Our Operations
We are looking for you who want to make a difference, work for development within your profession and the department. The work is varied, as is the pace, and there is much to learn. With us, surgeries are performed around the clock and are both acute and elective in nature. As an operating room nurse at our clinic, you will become part of a team where you primarily assist in cranial and spinal surgery, as well as some peripheral nerve surgery and craniofacial surgery. During on-call hours, we also assist with ENT surgeries and plastic surgical procedures.
We are one of seven neurosurgical clinics in Sweden and perform approximately 2,000 surgeries per year, of which nearly half are acute. Our operations provide care for patients both regionally and nationally, for people of all ages with various neurosurgical conditions. The department has six operating rooms equipped with high-tech medical technology. One of the rooms is our MR-hybrid suite where we operate in collaboration with radiology and anesthesia, allowing for MR examinations of the patient during surgery. A large part of the surgeries are performed microscopically, with the option to follow the procedure on large screens.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who are either a licensed nurse with specialist training in operating room care or a student in the field. Previous experience in operating room care is considered an advantage, but not a requirement. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
Your Competence
We offer you a varied and stimulating job where your role is significant in collaboration with the colleagues in the operating team. You are an engaged and positive colleague who contributes to a good work environment. You are responsible and motivated in your work.
What We Offer
With us, you are offered a permanent full-time position. Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, weekends, and nights in a business-adapted preference schedule with the possibility of reduced working hours. Compared to many other 24/7 operations, there is less weekend duty. Working hours can be discussed based on needs and preferences.
Onboarding is adapted to your needs. Probation may apply. Start date is by agreement.
With us, you receive benefits that make a difference. Read about the benefits here: Region Uppsala Benefits (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/).
