Do you want to work with exciting laboratory diagnostics where your work makes a real difference for the patient? We are now looking for a biomedical scientist or biologist for the culture unit at Clinical Microbiology in Linköping.
Our offer
Clinical Microbiology is a county-wide and accredited activity within the Diagnostics Centre at Region Östergötland. Clinical Microbiology performs diagnostics on microorganisms that can cause serious infections; bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. To detect pathogens in patient samples, a range of different techniques are used; cultivation using, for example, automation robots, detection of antigens, antibodies, or DNA/RNA. We have our own production of culture media. The technical development is high. There is a long research tradition within the laboratory linked to the Faculty of Medicine, Linköping University.

Approximately 70 dedicated employees work at the clinic – doctors, biomedical scientists, biologists, laboratory technicians, administrators, and managers. Of the 70 employees, 55 are biomedical scientists/biologists, and we are currently looking for a substitute for the culture unit.
Job Description
As a biomedical scientist/biologist in the culture unit, you will work with among other things:
- Searching for and detecting bacteria and fungi in various areas (blood, airways, wounds, urine, feces, etc.).
- Species and resistance determination of findings using, among other things, MALDI-TOF.
- The majority of all cultures are assessed and final answers are given by a biomedical scientist/biologist.
- Cultivating samples both manually and with the help of automation robots (plating, incubation, and digital reading).
- Working in the sample reception area and receiving and registering all samples arriving at the clinic.
- Performing internal and external quality controls.

About you
We are looking for you who are a licensed biomedical scientist or have a university degree in biology. You have very good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.

Application and Employment
We offer a permanent position at 100%, with start date upon agreement. Probationary employment may be applied.
Clinical Microbiology is open every day of the year, and working hours vary between day and evening shifts (07:30–16:00 or 10:30–19:00). On weekends, there are only day shifts, and you work every fourth weekend.
