The Workplace

As a school nurse, you are employed directly under the principal, who is responsible for student health services. The operations manager and medical director at the central administration is responsible for the Student Health Service's Medical Component (SHSMC) and serves as a support for the principal and the school nurse.

Bagarmossen School is a compulsory school (grades 1–9) with 850 students.

The school is part of the Bagarmossen-Brotorp school unit, which together consists of two schools with just over 1,200 students.

Bagarmossen School is beautifully located in Bagarmossen next to the Nacka Nature Reserve. We have good transport connections, including the subway, which takes approximately 18 minutes from T-Centralen to Bagarmossen Center.

Our overarching goal for the school unit is to increase student attendance, safety, and learning, and we have seen a very positive development in this regard in recent years.

Job Description

Carry out the Student Health Service's medical interventions in the school in accordance with current legislation and the city's Program for Student Health Work.

The school nurse's mission is to collaborate with the school leadership and other student health personnel to create the best possible conditions for students' learning, development, and health, based on medical competence.

Together with the school doctor and in consultation with the school leadership, you are responsible for organizing the Student Health Service's medical interventions in the school. The work involves collaboration with students, parents, school staff, as well as organizations and authorities outside the school.

Since March 2022, Stockholm City school nurses have been recording patient records in the journal system Prorenata.

At Bagarmossen School, you will be part of a student health team and regularly collaborate with school leadership, special needs teachers/educators, school counselors, and school psychologists.

You will primarily be responsible for students in grades 4–9 at Bagarmossen School.

At Bagarmossen School, you will also have a colleague, a school nurse working 50% who is responsible for grades 1–3. At Brotorp School, there is a school nurse working 60%, so you will have two colleagues within the same principal's area.

An important part of the job is building good relationships daily with both students and guardians, as well as the rest of the school staff.

Qualifications

• Licensed nurse with one of the following specialist nurse educations:

• Specialist Nurse Program – District Nurse (75 ECTS credits)
• Specialist Nurse Program – Child and Adolescent Health (60 ECTS credits)
• Specialist Nurse Program – School Nurse (60 ECTS credits)

Stockholm City school nurses use Prorenata for journaling and must be able to work with basic computer programs and have experience with electronic patient records.

You are empathetic, flexible, and goal-oriented. Important qualities also include good judgment, attention to detail, and strong teamwork skills. Additionally, the role requires the ability to be independent and structured in your work approach to successfully plan for both short and long-term goals.

We also prefer that you have previous experience working as a school nurse.
