Do you want to work in a personal and vibrant hotel environment where no two days are alike? Hotel Vanilla is a centrally located hotel in Gothenburg, focusing on personal service and a welcoming atmosphere. We offer accommodation in a unique setting and always strive to provide our guests with a warm and professional welcome. Here, colleagues, decision-makers, and guests are close by – and every employee is an important part of the whole.

We are now looking to strengthen our team with a Receptionist with Extended Operational Responsibilities. As a receptionist here, you are the first person our guests meet – and often the one they remember best. The work is independent and varied, and we are looking for someone who has a sense for service and the confidence to make decisions independently.

About your role

You will mostly work independently, which means you need to be comfortable taking responsibility, making decisions, and handling unexpected situations on your own. We need someone who wants to and is able to take a holistic approach to daily operations, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.

A typical day involves everything from welcoming breakfast guests, handling check-outs, preparing for check-ins, managing bookings and payments, answering questions, and other tasks that may arise in daily operations. On weekdays during the low season, you will also manage breakfast service on certain days, which includes simple food preparation, serving, and cleanup.

Your working hours are primarily scheduled for the morning shift, but since we also have the reception and bar open in the afternoons and evenings, shifts may be scheduled then as needed, by agreement.

In addition to this, you will:

  • Conduct inventory and manage orders for daily operations
  • Perform supervision and maintenance tasks in rooms and facilities
  • The role includes some staff leadership, an area we can tailor to your profile.

You will work a scheduled 4–5 shifts per week, including every other weekend. The position is 80% but may involve overtime during the high season.

Who we are looking for

The work is varied – and sometimes unpredictable. Therefore, you need to be both service-oriented and proactive: confident in your interactions with people, quick-thinking, and with a natural flair for creating solutions. You:

  • Are social, warm, and professional in your interactions with guests
  • Have good communication skills in Swedish and English (additional languages are a plus)
  • Are responsible and structured, but also flexible when things happen
  • Enjoy making your own decisions
  • Collaborate easily with colleagues
  • Have previous experience as a hotel receptionist
  • It is a great advantage if you are hands-on/practical

Please note that we only process applications that meet the required profile.

What we offer

  • An independent role where you make a real difference for our guests
  • A family-like workplace with close contact between all employees
  • Location in the heart of Gothenburg, right next to the Cathedral
  • Opportunities to grow in your role and take on more responsibility.

Do you want to become part of Hotel Vanilla and help us give our guests a warm welcome? Send your application today! We process applications on an ongoing basis.
