About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service (Kriminalvården)

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation services, remand prisons, and client transport.

Job Description

As a cook at the prison and remand prison in Nyköping, you will work in the institution's large kitchen and be part of a work team. The tasks consist of common large-kitchen duties such as planning, preparation, and cooking of lunch and dinner.

As a cook, you will primarily prepare lunch and dinner for the inmates at the prison and remand prison, as well as lunch for the staff restaurant. Preparation of diet food and other special diets is also part of the role. Cleaning of the kitchen premises, dishwashing, and self-control measures in accordance with current legislation are included in the job duties. Collaboration with staff in other functions is a natural part of the work. Some administrative tasks may occur. The staff has a period-planned schedule that includes weekend shifts.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and self-aware. You are calm and controlled in stressful situations and collaborate well with others. You have good judgment and take responsibility for your tasks.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A restaurant or large-scale catering education at the upper secondary level, or alternatively other education combined with experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant
• The ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish

The following are also considered meritorious:

• Experience working in a large kitchen
• Experience working with self-control measures (HACCP)
• Experience working with special diets
• Relevant language skills
