to apply for the job
We are now looking for a driven and independent mechanical designer for an innovative tech company in Gothenburg. This is a long-term full-time opportunity where you will become a key person in a small, tight-knit team and work with mechanics at a very high technical level.
About the role
Our client is a Swedish deep tech company that develops large-scale machine systems for industrial manufacturing. Since the systems operate under extremely high vacuum and very high temperatures, extremely high demands are placed on the mechanical and thermal solutions.
As a mechanical designer, you will step into a broad role in a cross-functional R&D team consisting of electrical developers, PLC developers, and designers. You will lead the development of future machine systems, which currently involves significant and important groundwork in building the next generation of machine variants. You will take solutions all the way from concept and practical in-house prototypes to finished production with an external partner.
We are looking for a self-reliant and non-hierarchical mechanic with "skin in the game" who thrives in the fast pace and broad roles of a scale-up environment. You are a person with strong self-leadership who can take a vaguely defined problem, brainstorm a design proposal, and drive your own project forward. In this role, you cannot be a perfectionist who gets stuck in details; rather, you are a curious problem solver who focuses on the big picture and getting things done in practice.
Responsibilities
In this broad role, you alternate between pure 3D modeling and detailed 2D drawing in Creo Parametric with advanced calculations and simulations (FEA) to ensure the structural and thermal strength of the machine. You are responsible for managing your design data and driving change processes in Windchill PDM. The work also involves translating product requirements into technical specifications, conducting risk assessments, and collaborating closely with colleagues in electrical, software, and process engineering. Since serial production takes place with a partner in Sweden, occasional business travel may occur.
We are looking for someone who
- Has a relevant engineering degree (BSc/MSc) in mechanical engineering or similar.
- Has at least 5 years of experience in mechanical design, using Creo Parametric and Windchill.
- Has experience with large, complex assemblies and strong competence in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Is accustomed to taking mechanical design from the concept stage to finished production.
- Has strong self-leadership skills, with the ability to independently structure your work, solve vague problems, and argue for your technical ideas.
- Has very good knowledge of English and Swedish.
To succeed in the role, you have the following personal qualities:
- Goal-oriented
- Organized
- Responsible
Our recruitment process
This recruitment process is handled by Academic Work, and our client's request is that all questions regarding the position are sent to Academic Work.
We apply rolling selection and will remove the ad when enough candidates have reached the final stage of the recruitment process. A CV is required when applying. The tests are a tool to find the candidate with the highest potential for the role and to promote equality, diversity, and a fair recruitment process.
