About the Role
Do you want a meaningful job where you can make a real difference for both society and the energy transition? Here, you are part of a socially vital operation with exciting projects, cutting-edge technology, and colleagues who value each other.
We are currently looking for several experienced Power System Designers who want to help build the maintenance operations of the future!
We are facing one of Vattenfall Eldistribution's biggest investments ever – a historic mobilization to build a stronger, more resilient, and fully independent capability in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. In a time when the external environment places increasingly high demands on robustness and durability, we are taking decisive steps to secure a power grid that can withstand difficult conditions and deliver when needed most.
About the Role
As a Power System Designer focusing on substations and control equipment, you are a key person in our reinvestment projects within the power grid (0.4–400 kV). You drive the design process from requirements and technical choices to detailed design, procurement documentation, and final documentation. The work is primarily carried out in collaboration with our own maintenance organization, meaning you have close dialogue with those who will build, test, and manage the facility. In this role, you also ensure that occupational health and safety are considered at all stages, from design choices and work preparation to implementation and handover.
Your main tasks and responsibilities:
- Produce and quality-assure design documentation (single-line diagrams, circuit diagrams, connection tables, assembly documentation, and layouts/cabinet layouts).
- Prepare technical descriptions and documentation, and provide technical support during implementation.
- Ensure that the design meets requirements, standards, and internal guidelines, and contribute to technical choices and solution discussions.
- Drive documentation all the way to handover, including updates and as-built documentation after construction/commissioning.
- Coordinate and specify requirements towards contractors/suppliers in parts of the projects where external resources are used.
- When necessary, work with relay protection/IED and communication in substation environments, such as IEC 61850, and support related to substation networks.
Requirements
We are looking for you who are analytical and thrive working with complex technical issues. You have good collaboration skills, are happy to share your expertise, and contribute to the team's overall success. At the same time, you are responsible, drive your tasks to completion, and are confident in asking for support when needed.
We would like you to have:
- Post-secondary education in power systems/electrical engineering (university level/civil engineer) or equivalent experience-based competence.
- Experience in power system design in a project environment.
- Experience producing design documentation: single-line diagrams, circuit diagrams, connection tables, assembly documentation, and layouts/cabinet layouts.
- Good CAD skills.
- Structured and quality-conscious, takes responsibility for technical deliveries, and thrives in collaboration with many stakeholders.
- Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
- Valid driver's license (Category B).
Meritorious experience:
- Experience with distribution projects/substation and control facilities.
- Relay protection/IED and IEC 61850 (configuration/testing, e.g., SCD/GOOSE/MMS where relevant).
- Experience with testing/commissioning/troubleshooting of control facilities.
- Experience with procurement documentation and technical support during procurement.
- Experience producing as-built documentation and completing documentation after construction.
