Job Description
Security and Preparedness within the Municipal Administration is now seeking a Unit Manager in preparation for the establishment of a new municipal Safety Centre (Trygghetscentral). Växjö Municipality Group is facing an important development step in its work on safety, security, and crisis preparedness. We are looking for you who want to lead the establishment and operation of a municipal Safety Centre – a new central function for coordinated alarm management and operational safety work in the municipality.
As Unit Manager, you are responsible for planning, leading, and implementing the introduction of Växjö Municipality's Safety Centre, from the establishment phase to commissioning. When the Safety Centre transitions into regular operations, you, as Unit Manager, are responsible for the daily management of the operations and its employees.
The Safety Centre will be a 24/7 manned function handling various types of alarms and safety-related matters, serving as a key node for the municipality's coordination during disruptions, crises, and societal impacts.
We offer you a strategically important assignment with significant impact on the municipality's security work. Through close collaboration with the Municipality Group's leadership and key functions, you will have the opportunity to build and shape a new central operation. We believe this role suits you if you are looking for a developmental position where you can combine project management with operational leadership.
In the establishment phase, you will be responsible for, among other things:
- Leading and coordinating the project for the introduction of the municipal Safety Centre.
- Developing project plans, schedules, budgets, and decision-making materials.
- Collaborating with the municipality's administrations, companies, and external actors.
- Ensuring that organizational, legal, technical, and operational prerequisites are in place.
- Contributing to the development of routines, processes, and working methods for the Safety Centre.
- Preparing the transition from project to line operations.
In the operational phase, you will, among other things:
- Lead and distribute the daily work in the Safety Centre.
- Be responsible for personnel, competence development, and staffing.
- Monitor the operation's quality, efficiency, and development.
- Serve as a central contact point in the Municipality Group's operational safety and security work.
The duties may change over time based on areas of responsibility and needs within Security and Preparedness. As Unit Manager, you report to the Municipality's Security Chief.
Qualifications and Merits
You have an academic education/degree within the field of work or equivalent, which the employer deems relevant for the position, as well as at least 2 years of work experience in security, crisis preparedness, alarm management, or similar operations. You have documented experience in project management, preferably within the public sector, and good ability to collaborate, communicate, and build trust at different levels. You have a good ability to structure, plan, and drive complex assignments to completion.
The following are considered meritorious:
- Experience in building up or leading operational operations, especially alarm centers.
- Experience in personnel responsibility or workforce leadership.
- Knowledge of municipal organization and decision-making processes.
- Experience from collaboration with emergency services or other critical societal actors.
To succeed in the role, we think you are secure, solution-oriented, and have clear leadership skills. You are analytical but also action-oriented, and thrive in the role as a connecting link between strategy and operational activities.
A requirement for employment is a passed security clearance with register check. The security clearance will be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Security Protection Act.
We use tests as part of the selection process. Candidates who are assessed to the greatest extent to meet the requirements for the position will receive tests sent via email.
Preliminary interviews are planned to take place on July 29 and 30. Final interviews will be held on the afternoon of August 12.
We warmly welcome your application!
