About the Unit

The Staff and Logistics Company belongs to the 1st Marine Base Battalion, one of the Navy's field units subordinate to the Marine Base. The 1st Marine Base Battalion's task is to provide logistical support to naval units both ashore and afloat. The Staff and Logistics Company is a functional company whose task is to provide logistical support to the battalion's constituent units both in daily operations at the permanent base and at temporarily established bases. The company trains soldiers in communications, command, supply and catering, land combat, repairs and maintenance, and healthcare. The Staff and Logistics Company consists of a Command Platoon, Logistics Platoon, Close Protection Platoon, Repair Platoon, and Medical Platoon.

We are looking for you who want to work as a Specialist Nurse with your base in Karlskrona. You will be part of the continued development of the Staff and Logistics Company's Medical Platoon, where you will staff the unit's medical station (Role 1) and ambulance groups in the event of crisis and war. At the same time as the Medical Platoon is developed, a Navy Medical Company (MASK) will be established in parallel. This will create good opportunities for career development within naval healthcare.

Main Responsibilities

As a nurse at the Medical Platoon, you will work on developing the platoon's capabilities regarding healthcare. There will be a focus on training conscript medics and employed, licensed personnel every other year. The position involves planning and conducting exercises with the unit. As a nurse on the platoon, you will participate in establishing local guidelines (LSK) and work to ensure that the Medical Platoon provides good and evidence-based healthcare. You are expected to participate in exercises and training both at the Marine Base and in other locations, both as an exercise participant and in active healthcare readiness. The work is physically challenging at times as you will operate in field environments, handle heavy equipment, and wear uniforms with body armor. The position also includes some time for clinical duties.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Licensed nurse with specialist education in prehospital and/or anesthesia
  • Category B driver's license
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English

Personal Attributes

As a person, you have good collaboration skills and can work in different group constellations, but also independently, during sometimes work-intensive periods. We see that you are an initiative-taking problem solver with good analytical and social skills with business development in focus. Good physical fitness is a prerequisite in our operations as the battalion's personnel often operate in a field environment. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

MERITORIOUS

  • Military basic training equivalent to conscription, GSU/GMU or other Swedish military training
  • Previous military service or experience within the Swedish Armed Forces
  • TCCC, DSTC, PHTLS or equivalent courses
  • Training in or experience of training others
  • S-CPR training
  • Category C driver's license

The Marine Base's overarching task is to support the naval units with logistics such as transport, basing, guarding, and healthcare, both at home and abroad. The Marine Base has its headquarters in Karlskrona, but operates where there is a need, for example in Berga/Muskö, south of Stockholm, and in Gothenburg. Other major tasks for the Marine Base are monitoring Sweden's 2,700 km long coast with territorial waters.
