Do you want to use your medical expertise in a unique environment and contribute to enhancing safety within the Navy? The Naval Warfare School is now looking for a registered nurse to work as a teacher in naval medicine. This role is suitable for you if you already have experience in the subject, or if you have the right will, motivation, and ability to develop further.

Here, you will have the opportunity to work in a varied educational environment where, together with other teachers and instructors, you contribute to developing the naval unit's capabilities in naval medicine – where your expertise directly contributes to saving lives.

About the Unit

At the Sea Safety Department, we provide training in areas such as ship fire protection, naval medicine, CBRN, and sea safety. We train sailors, cadets, and licensed personnel – from basic to advanced levels in operational and shipboard environments. The training is characterized by work in a ship environment, limited resources, and healthcare under realistic and sometimes demanding conditions. Our mission is to increase capability, strengthen units, and ensure that our sailors and officers are ready to act in combat situations. You will become part of the Swedish Armed Forces' work to develop and ensure naval medical capabilities. The workplace is located at Lindholmen, Karlskrona – in the heart of the Navy's operations where tradition meets modern technology.

Main Responsibilities

  • Conducting training and practical exercises
  • Mentoring students in scenario and skill training
  • Planning and evaluating training sessions
  • Participating in exercises in a naval environment, both on land and on board ships

Your work involves inspiring, motivating, and developing others, while you yourself grow in the role. You will have the opportunity to develop through internal training, mentoring, and participation in exercise activities to gradually develop in the teaching role. The position includes the possibility of continued clinical work within healthcare.

  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing (Swedish)

Merits

  • Clinical experience in emergency care, anesthesia, ICU, ambulance, or similar areas
  • Experience in training within emergency care, trauma management, or combat medicine
  • Experience with Navy operations
  • Previous military training or service in the Swedish Armed Forces
  • Experience with trauma or pre-hospital care
  • Experience serving on board ships
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing (English)

Other Information

Employment Type: Permanent (six-month probationary period applies).

Scope: Full-time.

Location: Karlskrona.

About the Swedish Armed Forces and the Naval Warfare School

The Naval Warfare School (SSS) trains officers, specialist officers, sailors, and soldiers at all levels. SSS also conducts studies, trials, and command training for ship crews, as well as tactics and technology development in the naval field. SSS is also responsible for Diving and Naval Medicine in the Swedish Armed Forces. SSS is primarily based in Karlskrona in Blekinge but also has a unit at Berga outside Stockholm specialized in amphibious warfare.
