The Naval Warfare Centre (Sjöstridsskolan) is now seeking an experienced specialist officer for the role of Lead Instructor in Sea Safety. The position involves responsibility for the centre's training in hull damage protection, survival at sea, and internal combat management.
Here, you will have the opportunity to work in a varied educational environment where, together with other teachers and instructors, you contribute to developing the Navy's capabilities in sea safety.
About the Unit
At the Sea Safety Department, we provide training in areas such as ship fire protection, naval medicine, CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear), and sea safety. We train sailors, cadets, and certified personnel, from basic to advanced levels, in operational and shipboard environments.
Our mission is to enhance capabilities, strengthen units, and ensure that our sailors and officers are ready to act in combat situations.
The workplace is located at Lindholmen in Karlskrona, right in the heart of the Navy's operations where tradition meets modern technology. Training also takes place at Berga in Stockholm.
Main Responsibilities
- Planning of training courses and practical exercises
- Mentoring of teachers and instructors
- Conducting training courses and practical exercises
- Planning and evaluation of training modules
- Participation in exercises, both ashore and aboard ships
Your work involves inspiring, motivating, and developing others, while you yourself grow in the role. You will have the opportunity to develop through internal training, mentoring, and participation in exercise activities to gradually advance in the lead instructor role.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Specialist Officer rank (SO 6)
- Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish
- Experience in protective service duties aboard Navy ships

The Naval Warfare Centre (SSS) trains officers, specialist officers, sailors, and soldiers at all levels. SSS also conducts studies, trials, and command training for ship crews, as well as tactical and technological development within the maritime field. SSS is also responsible for Diving and Naval Medicine in the Swedish Armed Forces. SSS is primarily based in Karlskrona, Blekinge, but also has a unit at Berga outside Stockholm specialized in amphibious warfare.
