School Counselor in Valdemarsvik Municipality

As a school counselor, you are part of the central child and student health services, but your daily work takes place at the municipality's schools together with students, guardians, and school staff. You will also become part of the municipality's school social team, where student health and social services collaborate to identify needs early, coordinate efforts, and create the best possible conditions for children and young people.

Job Responsibilities

As a school counselor, you have a central role in promoting students' social, emotional, and mental health. You work preventively, promotively, and remedially together with the school's other professionals and in close collaboration with the school social team.

Your responsibilities include, among other things:

• Actively participate in the school's student health team (EHT) and student health meetings (EHM).
• Work to promote student attendance based on the municipality's attendance routines.
• Contribute to the schools' safety work and handle cases regarding bullying according to current routines.
• Provide support and consultation to educators on social issues and group processes.
• Conduct individual support conversations with students and collaborate with guardians.
• Work with crisis management and conflict resolution.
• Contribute to the school's preventive and health-promoting work.
• Conduct school social investigations and be responsible for documentation according to current guidelines.
• Collaborate with internal and external actors to create the best possible support for the student.

You have a degree in social work or another university education that the employer considers equivalent. You have good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.

Experience working as a school counselor or other qualified psychosocial work with children and young people is meritorious.
