At the Primary Care Clinic, we aim to conduct clinically relevant research of high relevance to our patient groups. To further strengthen our research group, we are now looking for a specialist nurse with an interest in research. The primary employment is as a specialist nurse at the Primary Care Clinic. The position offers the opportunity to try working with different parts of the research process under supervision.
We offer a permanent position as a specialist nurse at our acute geriatric ward, GAVA, where you will have the opportunity to combine clinical work with work on a research project. The distribution between clinical work and research may vary over time.
Our Offer
Welcome to a workplace where care, respect, and security permeate everyday life. Work at GAVA is both varied and meaningful. Here you meet elderly patients with different backgrounds and life stories – encounters that often leave a strong impression. Everyday life can shift between calm and intensity, with rapid changes and new priorities, but there is always time for important conversations and genuine meetings with the patient.
As part of the employment, you will have the opportunity to try working with research in the interdisciplinary project VITAL (Violence Intervention and Treatment, Acting through Local partnership). The project is led from the Primary Care Clinic / Linköping University, but is a collaboration with other universities and municipalities. The overall purpose of the project is to develop and test new methods to counter violence against elderly people and provide adequate help to those affected, in collaboration with relevant parties (elderly people themselves, relatives, staff, and voluntary organizations). Initially, you will have the opportunity to try working under supervision with data collection and analysis in the research project for approximately half of your working time. Your duties will include coordinating data collection and participating in group interviews with research participants.
Job Description
As a nurse at GAVA, you lead the nursing care in a care team with five to seven patients.
Our patients often have significant care needs, making the nurse a key person in their holistic care. On the ward, there are several supporting functions that strengthen the team and facilitate your work: coordinator, scheduler, care coordinator, and meal server. These roles contribute with administration, supervision, and needs assessment. The clinic also has pharmacists on site who provide support in medication management.
You will receive a four-week introduction tailored to your needs and experience. It alternates between e-learning and patient-facing work, and you will shadow various support roles to understand the operations. During the introduction, you will have a mentor who follows up on your progress and supports your development. The position is located in a facility that operates around the clock, seven days a week. This implies work on day, evening, and night shifts as well as weekends according to a schedule.
About You
You are a licensed nurse with eligibility to practice in Swedish healthcare. You also have an academically preparatory degree. It is particularly meritorious if this is a specialist nurse degree, but other relevant education may also meet the requirement. We also wish that you have a strong interest in geriatric healthcare. Very good knowledge of Swedish and good knowledge of English. Good organizational skills and the ability to work independently. We are looking for someone with a few years of professional experience and a strong interest in clinical research. Previous research experience is meritorious but not a requirement. We would appreciate that you have the ambition and interest to eventually undergo doctoral studies and work with research in the geriatric field. Experience in geriatric care is meritorious. As the role involves working in various digital systems, we would appreciate that you have good IT skills.
Previous experience in the specialist area is meritorious but not a requirement. Experience in relevant or related areas is also meritorious.
As a person, you are flexible, outgoing, and driven. You are confident in your professional role and find it easy to work independently, while also enjoying teamwork and having good collaboration skills. You take responsibility, adapt easily to changing circumstances, and can work systematically to prioritize your efforts. Attention to detail, responsibility, and engagement are qualities we value highly, as well as a helpful and positive attitude.
Application and Employment
We are looking for someone interested in a rotating day/evening/night shift position; the scheduling of working hours is negotiable. We work two out of five weekends, and you have the opportunity to influence your schedule.
