Do you want to work strategically with nature and environmental issues in a municipality where development and sustainability go hand in hand? Here, you will have a role where you influence long-term structures and contribute to concrete projects that shape the future of Halmstad. As a Municipal Ecologist, you will become an important part of strengthening the work on biodiversity, developing attractive living environments, and ensuring that sustainable perspectives are integrated into urban planning.

The Community Development Department has a coordinating role in the municipality's development and consists of several specialist areas. Here, planning architects, the city architect, traffic strategists, municipal ecologists, and other key roles work closely together on issues concerning physical planning, sustainability, and growth. The role offers significant opportunities to influence, both through strategic work and collaboration within different parts of the organization.

Your Responsibilities

As a Municipal Ecologist, you work broadly with nature conservation and ecology in the municipality's planning and development. You contribute expertise to detailed plans and strategic planning processes, participating already in early stages where important decisions are made. The work involves weighing together nature values, development needs, and long-term sustainability goals.

You drive and participate in projects, for example through LONA and LOVA initiatives or other development projects. A key part of the assignment is to collaborate with other units within the municipality, such as the Technical and Property Administration, as well as external actors like authorities, Region Halland, and Halmstad University.

The role also includes conducting analyses and ordering inventories, as well as providing advice on projects to be built. You handle remittances and motions within your area and contribute to the municipality leading, coordinating, and following up on ecological sustainability work. Overall, you are expected to contribute to strengthening the municipality's work for increased biodiversity, developing attractive urban environments, and creating long-term sustainable solutions for both people and nature.

Your Qualifications:

  • University degree in biology, environmental science, or another education that the employer deems equivalent.
  • At least three years of experience in similar tasks.
  • Good knowledge of and experience working according to the Environmental Code.
  • Valid driver's license (Category B).

We are looking for you who take initiative and drive your work forward, while having the ability to adapt to different contexts and needs. You thrive in a role where you work both independently and together with others, and where you need to weigh different perspectives before decisions are made. The work requires that you can switch between strategic issues and more operational tasks.

You easily create trust and collaborate with various actors, both within and outside the organization. Your ability to listen, understand different interests, and find viable paths is central to the role. At the same time, you need to be able to stand firm in your area of expertise and contribute with clear stances when needed. In recruitment, we place great importance on your personal qualities.
