Job Description

We are now looking for 2 Museum Guides at 75%. You will work on a schedule that includes weekend work (every other weekend) and evening work (on Thursdays), as well as two additional weekdays.

This is a job for you who enjoys meeting people, enthusiastic service, and providing information to our visitors. Here, you will meet a large number of visitors, and the work is highly varied with periods of high tempo alternating with quieter times depending on visitor flow.

You will be responsible for hosting and customer service in our exhibitions, public areas, and Cosmonova. You will handle sales and ticket booking, cash handling, and shop work. You are comfortable speaking in front of both large and small groups, as part of your role involves telling stories about selected collection items and our research in a learning and inspiring way to our visitors. You will also give welcome presentations in Cosmonova, lead activities in 'Labbet' and the Escape Room, and receive schools and other visitors.

The work involves handling various computer systems, technology, and technical equipment, such as starting film screenings in Cosmonova.

The role also includes leading evacuations or operating a defibrillator during alarm and emergency situations. The job requires that you walk and stand for long periods in the various exhibitions and other public spaces, that some tasks occasionally require lifting heavy objects, and that you can evacuate via stairs in safety situations.

Work is performed on a rotating schedule at different stations throughout the day, which places high demands on teamwork within the work group. As needed, you will participate in outreach activities and other routine tasks within the unit and the public department.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a high school education and at least three years of documented experience in service work. You have good administrative skills and are accustomed to working according to established routines. You are computer literate, especially in the Office package, and can communicate professionally and correctly in both Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.

You have experience with cash handling and sales and are accustomed to meeting and guiding visitors or customers, for example through guiding, product demonstrations, activities, or similar. The role requires that you are comfortable with a job that involves a lot of movement during the workday and that you have the physical prerequisites required to handle heavy lifting and act in fire and emergency situations.

It is meritorious if you have experience in retail work, including merchandise handling, price tagging, and warehouse work, as well as experience with booking and cash register systems. We also view training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), fire safety, customer service, or visitor reception positively. Experience from museums or other visitor attractions is meritorious, as is the ability to quickly adapt to new digital systems and an interest in technology and technical equipment.

To be successful and thrive in the job, we believe you are:

  • Service-oriented: You create a professional and positive meeting for our visitors.
  • Flexible: You can easily adapt your working style to changed conditions.
  • Stable: You focus on the most important tasks at the moment, even during visitor peaks that involve a high work tempo.
  • Team-oriented: You show interest and understanding for others, create team spirit, and communicate proactively.
