Job Description

We are currently seeking five museum guides for part-time positions at 34%, with work scheduled every other weekend and every Thursday evening. We are also looking for four museum guides for part-time positions at 20%, with work scheduled every other weekend.

This is a role for you if you enjoy meeting, inspiring, and providing service and information to our visitors. At our museum, you will interact with a large number of visitors, and the work is highly varied, featuring periods of high pace alternating with quieter times depending on visitor flow.

You will be responsible for hosting and welcoming guests in our exhibitions, public areas, and Cosmonova. You will handle ticket sales and bookings, cash management, and retail work. You should be comfortable speaking to both large and small groups, as part of your duties involves presenting selected collection items and our research in an educational and inspiring manner to our visitors. You will also give welcome presentations in Cosmonova, lead activities in "Labbet" and the Escape Room, and host schools and other visitors.

The role involves handling various computer systems, technology, and technical equipment, such as starting film screenings in Cosmonova.

The position also requires the ability to lead evacuations or operate a defibrillator during alarm and emergency situations. The job requires you to walk and stand for long periods in the various exhibitions and public spaces. Some tasks may occasionally require lifting heavy objects, and in safety-related situations, you must be able to evacuate via stairs.

Work is performed on a rotating schedule at different stations throughout the day, which places high demands on teamwork within the group. As needed, you will participate in outreach activities and other routine tasks within the unit and the public division.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a high school education and at least three years of documented experience in service work. You have good administrative skills and are accustomed to working according to established routines. You are proficient with computers, especially in the Office package, and can communicate professionally and correctly in both Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.

You have experience with cash handling and sales and are accustomed to meeting and guiding visitors or customers, for example through tours, product demonstrations, activities, or similar. The role requires you to be comfortable with a job that involves a lot of movement during the workday, as well as having the physical prerequisites to handle heavy lifting and act in fire and emergency situations.

Experience in retail work, including merchandise handling, price marking, and warehouse work, is meritorious, as is experience with booking and cash registers. We also view positively training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), fire safety, customer service, or visitor reception. Experience from museums or other visitor attractions is meritorious, as is the ability to quickly adapt to new digital systems and an interest in technology and technical equipment.

To be successful and thrive in this role, we believe you are:

  • Service-oriented: You create a professional and positive experience for our visitors.
  • Flexible: You can easily adapt your working methods to changing conditions.
  • Stable: You focus on the most important tasks at hand, even during peak visitor times that involve a high work pace.
  • Team-oriented: You show interest and understanding for others, foster team spirit, and communicate proactively.

Employment Type: Permanent.
Duration: Permanent.
