We are now looking for an Environmental and Health Protection Inspector for our joint Environmental and Building Department for the municipalities of Berg and Härjedalen. We are looking for you who want to work with service-oriented and trust-inspiring authority exercise. Good colleagues, varied work, and five fantastic seasons are included!

Job Responsibilities

The municipalities of Berg and Härjedalen have a joint Environmental and Building Department and an Environmental and Building Board. In total, we are approximately 40 employees working with issues within environmental and health protection, environmental monitoring, food, alcohol, building permits, and GIS/surveying. At the environmental unit, 16 competent colleagues work, of whom 8 are environmental and health protection inspectors.

Our offices are located in the towns of Funäsdalen, Hede, Vemdalen, Sveg, Hackås, and Svenstavik. The position is based in Hackås, Svenstavik, Sveg, or Funäsdalen. Since the offices are relatively far apart, parts of the work and collaboration with colleagues are carried out via Teams and other digital communication tools. We are now looking for a new colleague for an approximately one-year temporary position as one of our colleagues will be on parental leave.

We work for service-oriented and trust-inspiring authority exercise in the municipalities of Berg and Härjedalen. As an environmental and health protection inspector, the role involves conducting inspections and processing incoming cases related to environmental and health protection. The work is interesting and varied and offers good opportunities for development in different areas. Health protection includes, among other things, supervision of schools, preschools, and swimming pools. Environmental protection involves supervision of environmentally hazardous activities such as industries, gas stations, sewage, wind power, and contaminated areas. The work also includes processing permits and notifications for sewage, environmentally hazardous activities, and heat pumps, as well as responding to inquiries.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have education in environmental and health protection or equivalent that includes environmental legislation at the university/college level or equivalent. Knowledge of the practical application of legislation in the area, primarily the Environmental Code, is meritorious. Experience from work with supervision and examination within environmental and health protection is also meritorious. Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, is a requirement. Computer skills are meritorious, especially from work with Ecos2.

A driver's license for passenger cars (Category B) is a requirement, as parts of your work will take place in different locations in the municipalities. Both Berg and Härjedalen are Sami administrative municipalities, and we therefore consider it meritorious if you have knowledge of the South Sami language and culture.

Personal Qualities

To fit the role as an environmental and health protection inspector, we see that you are proactive and have an easy time collaborating. Good communication skills, both spoken and written, are essential. Being receptive is particularly important, as is the ability to quickly get up to speed with different cases. We also see that you can handle and independently prioritize among several ongoing work processes. We place great emphasis on personal suitability based on these qualities.

What We Offer

We offer an inspiring environment where you will work closely with colleagues, business operators, and politicians in a beautiful mountain environment.

Work-life balance is important to us! Opportunities exist for some remote work, flexible hours, and other benefits. We have a benefits portal with a wide range of offers and provide the opportunity for a wellness hour.

Berg Municipality applies HÖK/AB (General Terms) to the position. We apply individual salary setting; for this position, the current entry salary range is 32,000 SEK – 36,000 SEK per month, depending on your previous experience and competence. Start date by agreement.

Selection and invitations to interviews may take place continuously during the advertising period.

We warmly welcome your application to us at the Environmental and Building Department in Berg and Härjedalen!
