The Animal and Environment Unit is one of the County Administrative Board's seven units, working with permits, supervision, and control within disease control, health, food, feed, and animal welfare. We also work with supervision, review, and supervisory guidance within areas of the Environmental Code, water activities, water protection, dam safety, environmentally hazardous activities, fish farming, wind power, hydropower, contaminated sites, etc. Our employees include environmental protection case officers, county veterinarians, and animal welfare case officers. Description

The Environmental Protection Function consists of 18 case officers with varying backgrounds and experiences. We are now looking for an Environmental Protection Case Officer for the Environmental Protection Function, with a focus on environmentally hazardous activities.

Responsibilities

You will primarily handle applications, statements, and exercise supervision of environmentally hazardous activities (e.g., waste, wind power, hydropower, fish farms, industries, Seveso facilities) while contributing to sustainable development. Other tasks may also be considered depending on your background.

As an Environmental Protection Case Officer, you will play a key role in our supervision of environmentally hazardous activities to ensure compliance with current permits. You will prepare proposals and supporting materials for statements regarding permit applications from a holistic perspective, and you will often collaborate with internal and external parties to achieve results. Strong teamwork skills are essential.

Qualifications

We require a university degree in natural sciences of at least 180 credits, for example, as an Environmental and Health Inspector, Engineer, or other relevant education deemed equivalent by the employer. Knowledge and experience in wind power or waste and Seveso are particularly meritorious. You must have worked with supervision or review of environmentally hazardous activities for at least 1 year.

As the position involves travel throughout the county, with limited or no access to public transport, a valid B-class driver's license is required.

Experience from working with supervision or review within government agencies or municipalities is meritorious.
