The Nature Conservation Unit is the largest of the County Administrative Board's seven units. Here, we work among other things to preserve biological diversity, promote outdoor recreation, establish and manage nature reserves, maintain our mountain trails, manage our game populations, reindeer herding issues, as well as conduct supervision and issue permits. Experts in these fields work here who are happy to share their knowledge.

Description

The work with area protection is located within the nature protection function, one of the Nature Conservation Unit's four functions, and takes place based on the government's direction regarding voluntary formal protection and national strategies. The working group currently consists of about ten people.

Tasks

The work includes establishing and writing decisions regarding nature reserves as well as writing nature conservation agreements. It also involves maintaining ongoing dialogue with involved parties, such as landowners, managers, Sami villages, SSR, other authorities, and more. Regular coordination also takes place with colleagues within the authority. The establishment of area protection places high demands on collaboration and sensitivity to capture viewpoints from involved parties.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a university education in natural sciences, forest ecology, or equivalent. Since the work involves travel where public transport is not possible, a B driving license is required.

As a person, you take initiative, start activities that lead to you achieving results. You have good cooperation skills, which show in that you listen, communicate, and solve conflicts in a constructive way. The work requires a high ability to prioritize as the case volume varies over time. You have the ability to weigh together complex information and different types of considerations. You show judgment in statements, actions, and decisions and communicate in a clear way. You ensure that messages reach their destination and that expectations are clear for all involved parties.

It is meritorious if you have experience of:

• Area protection within a state authority
• Writing decisions regarding nature reserves
• Writing management plans for different nature types
• Case processing within an authority

Probation period 6 months.
