Your working day – security at our properties abroad

The Property Unit of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs is responsible for premises, logistics, interior design, and security technology issues at all Swedish embassies and consulates. The unit works with rent negotiations and the development of properties rented from the Swedish National Property Board or local property owners abroad. The unit consists of 26 employees.

To the group for property management and security technology, we are looking for a support technician. The group deals with issues regarding security-adapted maintenance of the foreign missions' chanceries, official residences, and integrated embassy complexes, with a focus on sustainability, security, cost-effectiveness, and operational adaptation.

As a support technician, the assignment involves:

  • being responsible for fault resolution, management, and upgrading of the foreign missions' security technology systems.
  • working closely with security technology case officers in the group, other relevant colleagues within the unit and the Government Offices, framework agreement suppliers, and other external contacts.
  • ordering security technology from framework agreement suppliers.
  • training foreign mission staff in security technology systems.
  • providing support and assistance to foreign missions within the area of work.

The assignment includes travel abroad as the group is responsible for all rented properties of the foreign service at approximately a hundred locations around the world.

Your background

We are looking for you who have experience working as a support or service technician within security technology. It is meritorious if you have worked with property-related security systems within state or municipal operations. Experience with lock technology is also an advantage.

You have at least a high school education or other relevant vocational training in the field. The position requires that you have good ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, in both Swedish and English.

As a support technician, you need to be both analytical and operational with a practical approach. Good judgment and integrity are central characteristics that presuppose responsibility and quality awareness, where conscious and wise trade-offs are made between the requirements of security and the needs of operations. You are receptive and have good collaboration skills. You are solution-oriented and can adapt to changed conditions and new environments.

We offer a permanent position starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date as soon as possible after agreement. You who apply are expected to have the opportunity to regularly undertake official travel to Swedish foreign missions, including to locations with high security threats. The positions are classified in security clearance and a security investigation with register check is conducted before an offer of employment is given. Swedish citizenship is required for the position. Your workplace is located in the Government Quarter in central Stockholm.
