About Härnösands Women's Shelter

Härnösands Women's Shelter is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting women who have been or are currently subjected to male violence. Currently, the shelter employs 1 full-time staff member and has 14 volunteer women. The employer for the staff is the shelter's volunteer board, which is also responsible for and decides on the direction and content of the operations.

Härnösands Women's Shelter is part of ROKS (The National Organization for Women's Shelters in Sweden), which is a women-separatist organization. This means that only women are employed and work voluntarily at the shelter.

The shelter's activities currently include:

• Support via chat, phone, and individual conversations for women and girls with experience of violence, as well as practical support and assistance in contacting social services, police, and other authorities.
• Outward-facing work through lectures and visits to youth clubs, schools, and workplaces.
• Advocacy activities.
• Women's shelter accommodation.

About the Position

We are now looking for a female Operations Manager who wants to lead and develop the shelter's operations in consultation with the board. In your role, you will have responsibility for personnel, economy, and operations. You will also be responsible for developing and monitoring the shelter's work and have overall responsibility for leading the ongoing operations.

A large part of your work will be outward-facing and advocacy-oriented. You will coordinate the outward-facing work with various municipal activities (schools, social services, home care, youth clubs, etc.), associations, business life, and other external partners such as the police and healthcare. This includes outreach activities and networking with potential collaboration partners.

We would appreciate it if you have experience in leading and applying for project funding, as this is part of the development the board envisions for the shelter in the future. Responsibility for applying for recurring operational funding, from among others the National Board of Health and Welfare, will also lie with you as Operations Manager.

You must also be prepared to step in and take calls with women and girls seeking support when needed.

Responsibilities

• Administrative tasks such as invoice processing, statistics compilation, etc.
• Applying for project and operational funding.
• Planning and leading projects.
• Developing the shelter's preventive and outward-facing work.
• Leading ongoing operations, including supervising other staff.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a social worker, behavioral scientist, or have equivalent education. Meritorious is experience in leadership positions and work within a women's shelter or other social services.

We value that you have a burning commitment to women's safety issues, strong initiative-taking ability, and are structured and solution-focused in your daily work.

Valid driver's license (Category B).

If you are employed as Operations Manager at the shelter, you will undergo the same training on male violence against women that we provide to our volunteers.

We have a collective agreement via Fremia, pension benefits, and a wellness allowance. We also offer supervision when needed.

Salary type: fixed monthly salary.

Start date: August/September 2026. Selection and interviews are conducted continuously. The position may be filled before the last application date.
