Our current Tourism and Business Development Manager is retiring, and we are welcoming our next Tourism and Business Development Manager who wants to help drive further development.

Description

As the Tourism and Business Development Manager, you play a key role in the municipality's development. You are responsible for issues related to business development, visitor industry, tourism, place branding, as well as culture and parts of leisure activities. The assignment involves strengthening the business climate, creating good conditions for growth, and contributing to making Munkfors an attractive place to live, work, establish oneself, and visit.

You lead a small unit and work closely with the municipal executive board. As Tourism and Business Development Manager, you are part of the municipal group's leadership team and report directly to the Municipal Chief Executive. The role involves many contact surfaces and a high degree of collaboration. You work closely with entrepreneurs, employers, authorities, regional actors, and other partners.

Responsibilities

You lead and develop operations based on current legislation, agreements, and guidelines. You are responsible for quality and improvement work, budgeting, and financial follow-up, while ensuring a good work environment. You recruit, coach, and develop employees and maintain good relationships with residents, employees, union representatives, and authorities.

A large part of the assignment involves building relationships with existing companies, potential settlers, and individuals wishing to start businesses. You are also responsible for the municipality's outward-facing information regarding business issues, the visitor industry, and major events, representing Munkfors in various collaboration forums and development initiatives.

Examples of responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the municipality's business development, visitor industry work, and place marketing.
• Lead and develop the municipality's work with NKI (National Business Climate Index), Local Business Climate, and other value-creating analyses of business development.
• Be an active participant in the leadership team's work and contribute to the municipality's overall development.
• Promote a strong and growing business sector through active dialogue and collaboration with entrepreneurs.
• Develop our visitor industry and make the municipality visible as an attractive destination.
• Preserve and develop our rich cultural heritage and cultural activities.
• Strengthen the conditions for active outdoor life and a rich leisure offering.
• Lead, develop, and coordinate within business, tourism, culture, and leisure.

Qualifications

We are looking for a confident and clear leader who creates engagement through a present and coaching leadership style. You have strong personal drive and thrive in a public role with many contact surfaces. You are curious, receptive, and have the ability to build trust and drive development issues forward. At the same time, you have the ability to see the big picture and navigate complex contexts with both engagement and clarity.

You are accustomed to working at a strategic level and have a good understanding of how a politically governed organization functions. As a person, you are analytical, structured, and independent, but also collaborative and contribute to an inclusive work culture.

We believe you are a skilled generalist with the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with different areas and tasks. You are self-motivated, structured, flexible, and get things done. You have a genuine commitment to the municipality's development.

To succeed in the role, we see that you have:

• An academic education in a relevant field or comparable experience.
• Experience in business development and local development.
• Experience in leading others and driving projects.
• Good understanding of the conditions and prerequisites for entrepreneurship.
• Good communication skills and ability to develop relationships.
• Good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.
• Good local knowledge.
• A valid driver's license (Category B).

It is meritorious if you have experience from public sector operations, change management, or work in a leadership team.

Personal qualities are given great weight.

Terms

We apply individual salary setting. Start date by agreement.

The Municipal Executive Office as a workplace

At the Municipal Executive Office, we work on driving the strategic and overarching issues that shape the future of Munkfors Municipality. Together with our dedicated employees, we constantly work to improve the conditions and prerequisites for everyone who lives, works, and operates here. Through continuous environmental scanning and updates, we are always ready to meet future challenges.

Our office functions as a central link between elected politicians and the municipality's various operations. We are responsible for finance, HR, business, tourism, culture, communication, and IT. The technical unit is also located here, ensuring that residents have clean water, functioning waste management, well-maintained buildings, playgrounds, and streets.
