Personal Assistant Wanted – For You Who See the Person Behind the Behavior
Location: Kolsva
Hours: Approx. 30 hours per week, plus sleeping on-call duties.
Some people need support with practical matters. Others need someone who understands what isn't always visible. This young woman needs both.
We are looking for a personal assistant for a young woman with cerebral palsy (CP), autism, ADHD, and some speech difficulties. She is a person with a strong will, humor, emotions, and her own goals. To succeed in this role, you must be able to meet her as the individual she is – not just based on diagnoses or behaviors.
This is a position where safety and understanding are crucial. You need to be able to read situations, interpret signals, and understand that behavior is often an expression of something other than what is visible on the surface.
About the Role
As a personal assistant, you are close by in various everyday situations. You provide support at home, accompany her to activities, and contribute to creating predictability, participation, and security.
The work sometimes involves handling situations where emotions run high or where communication needs to happen in ways other than through long conversations. In these moments, you need to maintain your calm, understand the context, and act professionally. You do not let your own emotions dictate your actions, and you always meet the person in front of you with sensitivity, presence, respect, care, and dignity.
No two days are alike. Sometimes the pace is fast and many things happen simultaneously. Other times, the task is about creating calm, structure, and presence. You need to be able to handle both scenarios.
We are looking for someone who
- Is secure, stable, and has good self-awareness
- Can distinguish between the person and the behavior
- Has the ability to notice and understand needs that are not always expressed in words
- Is sensitive without becoming insecure
- Is flexible without losing structure and boundaries
- Is genuinely interested in people, communication, and behaviors
- Has experience or knowledge of low-arousal approaches (low-affective handling)
- Has excellent command of Swedish in both speech and writing
- Has experience working with individuals with autism or ADHD (meritorious)
- Has a valid driver's license and access to a car (to commute to and from work)
Other Information
- There are pets in the home, so you must not have a fur allergy
- Introduction and support are provided before you work independently
- Mandatory supervision is included in your employment
Working Hours
- Approx. 30 hours per week
- Every other weekend
What We Offer
A meaningful job where you have the opportunity to make a real difference in another person's life. Here, respect, integrity, professionalism, and the ability to create security in everyday life are valued.
