Within the Social Care Administration, approximately 1,200 dedicated employees work to provide support and care to those in need in our municipality. The work takes place within elderly care, home help services, disability services, and social psychiatry, as well as individual and family care.

Disability Services and Social Psychiatry is one of three departments within the Social Care Administration. The department is responsible for LSS housing, day activities, supported housing, short-term stays, and personal assistance. We are approximately 250 employees who work with great commitment, focusing on the individual's needs and believing in their own abilities. We work purposefully to ensure our operations have high competence and quality.

Within the department, we work for collaboration between workplaces and competence development for our employees. Therefore, we work in collaboration groups where we help cover the needs in our operations and share knowledge and ideas between workplaces. This means that as a future employee, you have a regular workplace where you work the majority of your shifts, and some shifts may be carried out at another workplace.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As an escort or contact person, you will support an individual in their daily life, help with certain practical tasks, and contribute to their social life. You will create a safe and positive relationship by being an attentive and caring presence.

The assignment is based on regular meetings with the person you support, for example, once a week or month, depending on needs and agreement. This is therefore not a traditional employment, but a meaningful assignment where you make a difference in someone's everyday life.

Contact Person (Fee-based assignment)

The assignment as a contact person means that with your presence and commitment, you help counteract isolation and loneliness. You meet the person who is in need of your help, a certain number of meetings per month based on the decision of support. Based on the person's needs, you jointly decide what you want to do while you are together. You can meet and go out, talk, bake, walk, watch a movie, or come up with other activities. The most important thing is actually not the activities themselves, but that you meet and socialize.

The idea with the meetings is that the person you are a contact person for should receive support in breaking their isolation and loneliness, as well as encouragement to participate in community activities. With you as support, they can feel safe having fun with a friend and perhaps trying new activities.

Escort (Hourly employment)

As an escort, you regularly meet a person with a disability who needs support and encouragement to participate in a meaningful and stimulating leisure time. Through your commitment, you contribute to the person being given the opportunity to participate in activities and create social contacts.

The assignment involves being a support in getting out, participating in community life, and promoting participation on equal terms. This could, for example, involve accompanying them to leisure, cultural, or sports activities, or supporting the person in maintaining contact with friends and acquaintances.

Your effort as an escort is an important part of strengthening the individual's independence, participation, and quality of life.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are attentive, relationship-oriented, and mindful in contact with other people. You have the ability to behave professionally based on your assignment and work with a focus on the individual's needs and interests.

You should have a good ability to take initiative, as you are responsible for planning and carrying out meetings and activities. It is important that you stay updated on what is happening in the city and what activities are offered to enable a enriching leisure and community life.

Meritorious:

  • Previous experience as an escort and/or contact person
  • Work experience within LSS (Support and Service for Persons with Functional Disabilities) and/or SoL (Social Services Act)
  • B Driver's License

Having your own disability within NPD (Neurodevelopmental Disorders) is not a barrier, and we welcome people with different personalities.
